Ugh, my immediate thought was Cassel...being his contract was in the $60 millions. I'm tired of being reminded of that dude. WHEN WILL IT END?!

I don't know what "super turf" is but field turf was installed at my daughters high school on the football field before last season. It was paid for by a gift contribution rather than spending any school budget though. It looks really damn sharp.

Couple schools around this area are going to field turf and I cannot wait to play those teams.

Too much money. Look up the Permian HS in Odessa. That was the school Friday Night Lights was based on. that is one crazy place.
As far as turf-I am a teacher. Both of our HS have turf. Most of the HS fields in the twin cities are going to them. A coach at another HS explained it this way. The field is used 3-5 times a week. Football, lacrosse, soccer, marching band. One bad rain before a game and the field is ruined. That could happen in october. The cost of the turf field is CHEAPER than water, fertilizer, maintenance, re-sod, mowing etc for 10 years. plus, they only have to vac it, spray it with static guard and can push snow off of it without damage-which can also happen in October here. A few schools have put a blow up dome over their fields in the winter. I am opposed to that here. I do not want every view from the front of my house looking over a 100 ft tall white caterpillar. |

Why's this a big deal? Kansas City gave hundreds of millions for a minor league baseball team.

That's cool, but every 15 years you have to replace the "rug" and it costs 100 large. Kind of tough to drum that up with 3500 people in the district.
