My Dog has Cancer


This is the dog who broke his femur bone at a pet hotel. His biopsy came back as positive for osteosarcoma which is bone cancer. He now has to go back to have his leg amputated. Not only is he going to lose his leg the doctor is only giving him 3 to 9 months to live. This is a very aggressive form of bone cancer.
The pet hotel is still going to pay for the first surgery he had to repair his leg but now it's coming off.

Sorry to hear it man. Dogs are special.

My dog Chief is 12 and has arthritis really bad and is getting stoved up. He got pancreatitis a few months ago and I thought that might be the end for him. But he bounced back. I can see the writing on the wall though. Poor dingus is getting old.

Diesel have any Australian Cattle Dog in him? That’s what mine is (mostly anyway - pound puppy). They’re good dogs. Loyal as all hell.

Diesel is a pointer beagle mix.

The doctor just called and he gave an estimate of 6 months to live.

We scheduled surgery to have his leg to be amputated but that won't extend his life any. Chemo will only extend his life another 3 to 6 moths. so we are not going that route.

Yes because his fracture will not heal because of bone cancer.

So the leg has to come off. He can live the rest of his life as a 3 legged dog.

Cancer sucks! It is always so hard to lose a family pet, but the pain at the end is so worth the years of happiness they bring to the home. I wish you and him comfort during the upcoming months.

I am sorry to hear about your dog. Cherish every moment, every day, every second you have with him.

I feel for you. I know what it is like to lose a family pet. I lost my dog 14 months ago after 15 great years.
