Carl Peterson Still Sucks

The only negative about sneaking into the playoffs is the possibility that it could lead to Peterson getting newfound support in his bumbling quest to ruin the franchise. As Chiefs fans (some of us real), we need to continue to push for his ouster.

Carl has had his chance, and even a brief playoff run this year should not detract from the reality that the Chiefs need new direction, specifically in personnel acquisitions through the draft and Free Agency - - and soon. Peterson has had his chance, and now it's time for someone else to take the reins. If Clark feels the need to keep him on in a reduced role, so be it, but the game has passed him by.

The future of the organization looks murky, at best, and there is absolutley no positive momentum that Carl bring for the team to build on. Thanks Carl, for driving the ticket prices up into the upper third of the league and keeping the Hunts financially happy, but unless we can find lightning in a bottle, and go deep into the playoffs, you need to go.

That is all.

I agree...im one of Peterson's harshest critics, but im going to refrain from critisism until the season officially ends.

Maybe, just oneday, we will back into a Super Bowl win in spite of Carl Peterson.......... : )

For any real progress, besides sheer luck Peterson has to go.

Two years in a row Carl has placed this team with a chance to go to the playoffs and you people still complain. What the hell has he done so badly the last two years? Please tell me. He went out and signed Ty Law, the guy EVERYONE on this board wanted. He drafted Page, Pollard, Hali, Derrick Johnson, Larry Johnson, Jared Allen. Jesus Christ people, get a ****ing grip on reality.

18 years and one playoff win, get off the homervision. This doesn't change anything that KC lucked out in getting in the playoffs

The "reality" is that Peterson has not produced a winner, and he has had more than his fair share of time (18 years) to do it. Aside from the fact that he is a pompous, arrogant jerk that has belittled the Chiefs fan base on several occasions, he has proven over and over that he can't get the job done, specifically in obtaining enough quality players either via the draft or free agency.

Blaming Vermeil, Schottenheimer, Gun or Herm for his ineptitude in assessing talent is bullcrap. Carl is the ultimate decision maker on personell, and the only times he doesn't pawn off all the bad moves onto the coaches is the rare occasion something works out ala LJ, DT and Tony G. Funny how he always shrouds himself with accolades about those choices, yet shuffles off the bad choices to his coaches.

His record speaks for itself - we are one of a select few teams that have been outside looking in come playoff time. Our postseason presence (or lack thereof) is simply unacceptable, and he should be removed.

There is ample reason to believe we are on the front end of a rebuilding process, and, I, for one, have no interest in Peterson leading it. Fans should not let a 9-7 "playoff" season cloud history and get in the way of the reality of the situation.

HawkChief, I agree with the premise of your post, but there are a couple of threads here that cite articles with Clark Hunt essentially telling us that we aren't going to see any change.

As for your claim that Carl passes the buck on bad decisions, and takes credit on good ones, that might well be true.

However, using LJ as an example of his taking credit for a good decision, well it's a bad example, because it was pretty well documented on the day of the draft that he ignored Dick's wishes.

He didn't take credit after it was learned that it was a good decision.
He took credit at the time that the desicion was made.

And even if we were to win the Super Bowl it would only be 2 out of 18 season in which he mustered up a playoff win. That is a stinky record regardless of what happens this year.

But it doesn't matter. Anyone with a brain knows Peterson has been a poor GM and it appears it doesn't matter what people think cause he has the Hunt family by the short hairs for some reason.

He stinks and he will likely remain as long as he wants. So I just hope we can get lucky and win a Super Bowl....this year and every year beyond.

I'm curious why you think anybody has changed their mind with regard to Carl Peterson?
Even though Carl is an abject failure, it's okay to feel good about getting into the playoffs, no? I'm not going to feel bad again until we lose.

We went 10-6 last year, and missed the playoffs. 10-6 gets you in almost EVERY SINGLE year. Was that his fault too? The team that took our spot went to the super bowl. We've had three 13-3 seasons under Peterson. Like I've said before...how is it a GM's fault if your team goes 13-3 and happens to lose in the playoffs? A GM's job is to put your team in a position to make the playoffs year in and year out. Carl Peterson has done that.. I know you all need a scapegoat, and with all the media channels telling you how to think it's easy for everybody to quickly point fingers at Carl. I think you fail to recall how Carl helped build this franchise from a doormat into a great organization that wins alot of games. Carl has got this team to the playoffs about half the time since he has became GM. To ask to go to the playoffs more than this for any team is almost impossible in the long term.
---------------
Dating back to ‘77, teams whose personnel operations have been overseen by Peterson own a combined regular season record of 249-153-2 (.619). During that 25-season span, his teams have produced 19 winning records and have made the playoffs 15 times. During Peterson’s tenure, Kansas City has finished first or second in the AFC West 12 times, made eight playoff appearances, won four AFC West titles and reached the only AFC Championship Game in team history. Those are dramatic numbers when you consider that in the 17 seasons prior to Peterson’s arrival, the Chiefs made just one playoff appearance and enjoyed just four winning years.
