When reports emerged that Vikings running back Adrian Peterson missed practice and traveled to South Dakota due to a “medical issue involving [a] young family member that likely will be a police matter,” several tipsters linked the news to reports from Sioux Falls of a man named Robert Joseph Patterson charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery of an infant, who is in critical condition.

TMZ reports that the link indeed exists, and that Peterson’s two-year-old son is in critical condition after being severely beaten, allegedly by Patterson.

Per the report, Peterson’s son suffered severe head injuries.

We continue to wish Adrian Peterson and his family the best as they deal with, if the report is accurate, an unimaginable situation.

The evil that allows someone to brutally assault and ultimately murder a child is beyond understanding.

And what's sad is that this stuff happens every day, all over the world.

My prayers are with this boy's family, and with all who deal with such unspeakable and horrible acts. At least I know this child is in heaven, safe in Jesus' arms. Other than that, well, this is just awful.

Sadly, this happens a lot in the general population. When it happens to somebody famous, it makes people aware. But it happens way too often. Peterson seems like he's a good dude. Very sad to see him go through this. It'll affect Viking fans a lot like the Belcher thing affected us last year. Not the same set of circumstances, but I mean having to play a game right after a tragic event. In our case, the player was the bad guy. In the Vikings case, the player is the good guy.

From what i've heard, he wasn't even aware of the child until recently. Baby Momma got pregnant and moved to the Dakotas. AP hasn't even seen the kid.

I don't care about any of that. All I care about is that a ****ing innocent, helpless child was murdered by some kind of monster. As others have mentioned, it's news because it's ADP's kid. This stuff isn't national news everyday because it just happens to ordinary people. It's just so hard to believe that people this shitty exist.
