Yep, Armourdale. Sorry bout that.
I went by El Pollo Rey tonignt on my way home. All I can say is, yikes! The chicken was grilled. Grilled to death. Grilled to a black crunch. Grilled to the consistency of a pork rind. The rice looked like the "Always Save" brand and the beans were runny brown pintos. The salsa was like applesauce with red food coloring in it, sort of tomato flavor, sort of. There were plenty of authentic Mexicans in there, that's for sure. And a lot of flies. This place was like something out of the not so nice side of El Paso. The only redeeming quality was a 16oz Coke in a bottle. Mexican coke has real sugar in it, and always tastes good. Don't think I'll go back. Woodyard had their smoked chicken special tonight, should have gone there instead. |
