Chiefs | Jonathan Baldwin seems to be top choice for No. 2 WR job

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jonathan Baldwin appears to be the favorite for the No. 2 wide receiver job at this point but has not emerged as the dominant offseason player like he was last offseason. WRs Donnie Avery, Dexter McCluster and Terrance Copper are also expected to be candidates for the job.

I really hope he breaks out this year. I know most have written him off but by God he has some talent and just maybe Reid will bring it out. Anyway Avery is already hurt.

One things for sure.

Baldwin will NEED to learn how to beat the press and work on his short area quickness (his routes need to be completely refined) if he is gonna start and be effective in the WCO.

It's built on receivers getting open quickly.

There have been some social media quotes between him and Alex. If Alex takes him under his wing and keeps him working, he will move up a notch. Between Alex, Bowe and Reid's staff, I expect him to earn that #2 spot.

What?

Just because a QB takes a player "under their wing" doesn't mean they're automatically going to improve.

Of course it is not guarantee but Smith has made that work in several cases before in SF. A lot of young players just need a vet to point them in the right direction.

Not sure I agree.

Adding Avery is a very legit #2 WR option and I'd be shocked if he doesn't lock it up by the beginning of the season. Also keep in mind that Reid likes to throw to a lot of targets, and Kelce and Fasano will often add two legit receiving options at TE on many snaps. Bowe and Avery with Baldwin as a guy with something to improve, McCluster/Wylie competing for the slot. It's not too bad.

I distinctly remember Cassel bringing Baldwin under his wing before, and that just worked ****ing wonders. I'm pretty sure Baldwin even moved in with him during the offseason for a few weeks
