Baldwin appears to be #2 WR

Chiefs | Jonathan Baldwin seems to be top choice for No. 2 WR job
Thu, 16 May 2013 16:37:02 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jonathan Baldwin appears to be the favorite for the No. 2 wide receiver job at this point but has not emerged as the dominant offseason player like he was last offseason. WRs Donnie Avery, Dexter McCluster and Terrance Copper are also expected to be candidates for the job.

I really hope he breaks out this year. I know most have written him off but by God he has some talent and just maybe Reid will bring it out. Anyway Avery is already hurt.

Minus Bowe, Our WR's are ****ing garbage. I can't believe we didn't address the WR position in the draft - especially in round 3, where we had two ****ing picks.

only in KC we're excited at the prospect of a 1st Round player getting on the field at his position.

Yeah this year with Baldwin should be his break out or his last.

How in the hell did Avery get hurt?

I'd like to get excited about this, but so far all I see from the guy who might be okay in goal line jump balls. I would have loved to hear that he went to one of the WR player clinics in the offseason (not that he couldn't have, just that we didn't hear it). I expect a 1st or 2nd round WR next season...

I've never seen anything out of him that makes me believe he even belongs on an NFL field every week.

Conventional wisdom used to say a WR took 3 years to hit his stride in the NFL. That hasn't been the case as much lately, but I guess we can cling to hope that this is the year Baldwin figures it out. I'm skeptical, but will gladly be wrong.

Meh, maybe its opposite year. Last year he looked like a "beast" beating Brown. This year he looks like shit. Maybe he'll have a good year. Nothing excites me at all. He's not a tenth of what Bowe was in his second year. Now Baldwin is in year 3, better get it going captain workout.

Copper just won't die. (Sorry SNR)

Saying somebody is a "favorite" for a job after the first OTA in may makes all sort of sense.

I'm still holding out hope for him. Just based on his attributes alone. He's big, tall, has a great wingspan and big hands. Fast enough with a 4.5 and has a great 42 inch vertical. Athletically, he has incredible potential. I'm not ready to count him out because of ****ing last seasons train wreck of an offense.
