They play good defense (Like Wooly's teams). They tease you with close losses (Like Wooly's teams), they lay HUGE eggs at home (Like Wooly's teams). It's a cycle that keeps you thinking: "We are so close". But in reality, you're at best, 8-8. |

A coach's primary job is getting talent.

I do agree with you. But it's not like the two things aren't intertwined. A coach has to have talent to win. You can coach up some marginal talent. You can hide a lack of talent at certain positions. However, you have to be able to get talent. I don't think Doc can do that. I think he's at best an 7-9, 8-8 coach.

They beat nobody in the nonconference. Can't beat anyone on the road or neutral courts. Have a bad loss to Davidson and TTU. RPI in the high 80's. SOS above 150. They are not anywhere near the bubble.

If they finish at .500 in the B12, they'll have a chance. NIT would still be impressive for that group, as it stands.

And I was wrong...they've been the 5th best team statistically (UT, KU, MU, A&M), not the 4th. In any case, as far as I'm concerned, that's all coaching, because their talent level is way below teams like Baylor, KSU, and OSU.
