If being a bubble team is the goal, I guess that's correct. But it's a coaches job to get talent so I can't give Doc any credit for that. Wooly pulled in several top 100's and top 50's. (He couldn't keep them).

They play good defense (Like Wooly's teams). They tease you with close losses (Like Wooly's teams), they lay HUGE eggs at home (Like Wooly's teams).

It's a cycle that keeps you thinking: "We are so close". But in reality, you're at best, 8-8.

We're not talking about getting talent, we're talking about coaching. Or at least I was.

I was specifically talking about his in-game coaching and ability to get the most out of his ragtag group of players, not his non-existent ability to recruit.

I do agree with you. But it's not like the two things aren't intertwined. A coach has to have talent to win. You can coach up some marginal talent. You can hide a lack of talent at certain positions. However, you have to be able to get talent. I don't think Doc can do that. I think he's at best an 7-9, 8-8 coach.

They beat nobody in the nonconference. Can't beat anyone on the road or neutral courts. Have a bad loss to Davidson and TTU. RPI in the high 80's. SOS above 150. They are not anywhere near the bubble.

You were insulting his in-game coaching in this thread. That's what I took issue with. I don't disagree that he's been unable to get talent at Nebraska.

If they finish at .500 in the B12, they'll have a chance. NIT would still be impressive for that group, as it stands.

And I was wrong...they've been the 5th best team statistically (UT, KU, MU, A&M), not the 4th. In any case, as far as I'm concerned, that's all coaching, because their talent level is way below teams like Baylor, KSU, and OSU.
