Unsung heroes of 5-0

Ryan Succop. 10 for 12 this year, and one of them was blocked.

Akeem Jordan. Quietly beasting at the other ILB spot. Does not own any guns, either.

Tyson Jackson. No one can run on us. This is a Super Bowl caliber run defense and he's a key cog.

Quentin Demps. Two INT, and I think he's going to put Kendrick Lewis on the bench by the end of the year.

So you go from a 4-12 prediction, 3200 yards for Smith, S. Smith being garbage, Our run D being garbage, etc..to actually thinking you have not been wrong because we may not be better than Denver, which would make us the best team in the league?
All this after going 2-14, and having a completely new regime?

YOU GO BOY

And For the record TNs D is WAAAAY better than Denvers and ours is WAAAAY better than Dallas, so we may just beat Denver in Arrowhead yet.

I never predicted 4-12.

I did, however, predict that Alex Smith would be...exactly what he has been.

I actually thought you meant the opponents D. Durr.

But the D doesnt just dominate the 4th qtr. A. Smith has too.

The D dominates the entire game, which is the reason the 4th quarter matters so much so far.

What was it 5-11? Oh sorry.
3200 yards is what he has been? Right.
You knew we would be throwing more. You acknowledged it many times.

And FTR. I dont think ANYONE thought that Smith would do more than he did in SF. I know I didnt.

But nobody thought he would be on this pace either.

Dude has a Very legit shot at 4000 yards.

You know DAMN WELL that is not what you thought he was

Yes.

He is averaging the same yards per completion he did in San Francisco. And his yards per attempt is even worse.

He's just throwing it more here.

He's not really doing anything differently at all.

He's the same limited QB...and we're not sustaining drives...and we're not converting third downs...and we're not scoring points.

But yeah I've been totally wrong.

But I do give credit to Alex Smith. The credit he is due.

Which isn't much.

Declaring I was wrong about all of those things after 5 games is a stretch.

Especially since I was behind the Reid and Dorsey hires from day one, and especially since I never said shit about our special teams either way.

And also because McCluster has produced a whopping six first downs in five games.

You'll get me to admit one thing: this team is better than I thought, and it's because I was wrong about the defense.

The rest of it...slow your mother****ing roll, homers. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

No, it's not. The offense is not conservative by any stretch of the imagination, no matter how much people want to paint a failure to execute in that light. It's not martyball. In any sense of the word.

Right now the defense is carrying the team while the offense spins its wheels. And that's fine. That's great actually. Because if/when the offense starts to operate on all cylinders a bit more consistently over the course of a game, this team appears capable of blowing teams out.

Simply put, we have not seen the best out of this Chiefs team, not yet. And it's not just the offense that can improve. Because I don't think we've even seen the best Chiefs defense, either, not yet.
