With his style that he plays why wouldn't the niners keep Smith? The only way Smith is gone is if he asks for his release.

First off, it's already been reported that he will ask for his release.

Secondly, the 49ers have a lot of talent on that team that needs to be locked up.

So it's official that he wants out? I wasn't sure if the media was making a discussion of it or if he was exploring the option.
