Carlos Beltran on the possibility of going to KC:

Beyond all that though, its probably unlikely, there are just too many large-market teams chasing after Beltran.

Royals must want to sell a lot of tickets in Nebraska. Just put billboards of Alex and Joba up in Lincoln and Omaha.

Pretty big outlier... but not necessarily an indication his defensive ability is completely gone. I didn't watch St. Louis much (maybe 30 games), but when I did, I didn't see any of the glaring problems from Beltran that we saw so often with Frenchy.

Right, but the guy we got him for lead the AL in innings and quality starts and road ERA. He went something like 15-4 down the stretch and led us to our 2nd best record in the past 28 years. We got a shitload of value for Myers.

Its obvious that he genuinely likes Kansas City and the fans, but he also realizes that he would be giving up far too much money to stay, so he's trying to make the break as amicable as possible.

I don't blame someone in the least for going to the highest bidder. When you're talking about that much money, we aren't being intellectually honest with ourselves if we don't admit we'd do the same thing. He pitched well for us, can't ask more than what he gave.

One GM is going to throw crazy money at Santana. Would not blame him if he takes it. Most of us would do the same. I wish him well, in the NL.

Love Santana, he will be missed and he deserves to make bank.
Just hope the Royals do the best they can to replace his production...his clubhouse presence will def be missed too i'm sure. Also the Royals would be stupid to trade Butler. can't trade offense away right now and expect to get a hitter back like billy. |

No matter what, he's wealthy for the rest of his life, if he's not a dumbass. But we're talking the type of money that will ensure that his kids', kids', kids will be wealthy, if he's intelligent. He'd be a serious dumbass not to embrace this opportunity. |
