I need guinea pigs for game stream possibility

As some of you may already know, I've been working on coming up with a way that people who don't live in the local broadcasting area can watch games via the internet when they're not broadcasted nationally. The problem is that you need upload bandwidth to broadcast video, so it's hard to do it with more than a couple people.

I think I may have a possible solution - a program that works like BitTorrent, but for streaming video. Each person who watches the video also sends it out to others. The result would be that there would be NO LIMIT to the number who could watch the game!

Unfortunately, I need people to mess with it to try it out to see if it will work like I think it will. If you're interested, I've got the stream going on NFL network, and I'll leave it going pretty much all night. I'd appreciate it if some of you who are a little adventurous will try this out and let me know how it works!

Here are the instructions:
1. Download the Sopcast player by clicking here.
2. Install and run the program.
3. The first thing you'll see when you open the program is a login screen. Just leave it set to "Login as anonymous" and hit "Login" at the bottom.
4. In the address bar at the top, type in the following, then hit enter (or the arrow):
sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/10335
5. It may take a while to buffer, but after a bit you should be getting video. Let me know how it goes!

Notes:
-There will be a fairly significant delay from "live" since the video is being sent all over the place. That sucks, but it would be better than nothing for those who can't watch the games.
-I'm open to suggestions if anyone out there has done this with any other program.

Thanks to anyone who helps out. If this works, we may have a way to help a lot of CPers out!

windows firewall or zone alarm shouldn't bother with it ... it will just ask for access.

it's the wireless network i imagine.

I hope you get away with it. But I'm betting you get a letter if they find out about it. The broadcast rights to the games are worth millions. Good luck!!!

I wondered what your stance on it would be Skip.

Eh, it's actually pretty crappy. Just an old Rage Fury Pro (32mb card from 5 years ago). The video quality is decent because I've got the bitrate pretty high, but if you try and watch stuff full screen it's pretty blurry.

Alright, I'm cutting the stream for tonight. It seems to be easy enough that I can give it a try in full swing on Thursday. Thanks for all who helped out!
