ChiefsCountry's Mock Draft #1

End of the college season mock. Now that we know all of the underclassman who have declared, its a little more official.

1. Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama

BPA pick. Going over all the major mock drafts and big boards, it really looks like Richardson will fall. Of course trading up to get RGIII would be the best option, doesn't look like it will happen though. Richardson and Charles is a beast mode backfield. Chiefs would have the #1 ground attack in the NFL more than likely in 2012. Riley Rieff would be my pick if he was available, right now I don't see that happening.

2. Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford

Needing depth at the position and knowing Moeaki's injury history, this is a no brainer pick IMO. Not to mention how the NFL is going towards a two tight end system. Fleener gives the Chiefs passing attack another exciting weapon.

3. Bobby Massie, OT, Mississippi

Looking to upgrade their right tackle position, Massie should do just fine. He is very athletic and has played right tackle in the SEC. He will be a nice additon to the Chiefs offensive line.

4. Aaron Henry, S, Wisconsin

Chiefs need depth at the safety position behind Eric Berry and Kendrick Lewis. Henry was a productive starter for the Big Ten champions and will give the Chiefs solid depth. Also played cornerback for the Badgers. Very good student as well.

5. Nicolas Jean-Baptiste, NT, Baylor

With Kelly Gregg aging real quick, and Amon Gordon is a free agent, Chiefs add some depth to their d-line. You can never have enough depth on the d-line, especially how the Chiefs rotate them in and out.

6. William Vlachos, C, Alabama

Chiefs add a three year starter and two-time national champion to their offensive line. Vlachos helped power the rushing attack lead by Trent Richardson. Has played in a lot of big games over his career for the Tide.

7. Jacory Harris, QB, Miami (FL)

Taking a flier in the seventh round. Harris was suppose to be what RGIII was. Instead he had an updown career at the U. Still has all the tools you look for in a NFL QB. Its worth the shot this late in the draft.

I could go for this draft but I would swap #4 and #7. Get a 4th round QB and a 7th round depth safety.

For QB you are looking at a pool of...

Kirk Cousins - With all the QBs going back to school he'll probably go earlier, though.
Brock Osweiler
Brandon Weeden
Russell Wilson
Kellen Moore
Chandler Harnish
Ryan Lindley

For S I'd go for a combo of size and speed. Someone like Christian Thompson, Kelcie McCray and Sean Richardson. I originally was looking at Sean Cattouse but he seems to be creeping up everyones board.

I like it, except for the 7th round pick. It seems like every time I saw Jacory Harris play, he threw at least one interception.

If you are looking for a day 3 player from Baylor, consider Philip Blake the center. Watch Griffin videos and pay attention to the center.

Cousins would be my choice out of those but I think he will go higher. The rest are just blah IMO. I'm really not a fan of the Quarterback class this year. I really like Aaron Henry though. He brings alot of verstatile to our secondary. Top notch student. Class act. He seems like the perfect Chiefs draft pick.

I have been watching Blake some. Two big concerns with Blake. First is his weight. He is big. Around 320 I beleive, which would put him heavier than our tackles. Also is age. He will be 27 in middle of the season.

Thanks for the mock. I agree, no Harris in the 7th. I love what you did in Rd 1-4.

Aaron Henry would be a great pick for Chiefs, I agree.
We would add to depth at our D-Back spot which is always good. Plus he gets to learn from Berry which helps him understand the game more.

Not to poke holes in the OP, but Vlachos is a second or third round prospect and NJB will be gone by the end of the third, I would bet. I do think Harris is worth a late flyer, however.

Nice mock, but I doubt that several of those players are still available in the rounds you listed. JMO. If we end up at this however, I would love it. A draft in which we pick up Trent and Fleener is pretty solid

I have yet to see Vlachos on any top 100 prospect boards anywhere. I don't see him as a second or third round prospect.
