Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

Just lucky.

I am a friendly guy, and it's a small world out here. Good things happen.

My first FFL (May he RIP) didn't want to get paid for transfers, but I always tipped him, and the new guy is the same way.

They love guns, and enjoy people that love guns, too.

Saw this. I agree, thought the military was making a mistake when they went to the 9mm in 85, just for the sake of NATO compatibility. The round when fired from most std. pistols is not or/just barely adequate. Most 9's only have a 4 or 5 inch barrel not nearly long enough to develop full velocities. The 9mm Luger was originally invented for use in the German naval Luger pistol with an 8" barrel IRC. It does preform well in the UZI or MP40. Barrel length is the key.

JMO but I hope we (the DOD) goes back to a strictly American round like the 357 mag or an up graded 45acp. Or something like them.

30 carbine is 357mag on roids. Theirs so many calibers out there better suited for combat then the 9 parabellum

My dad would totally agree with you he carried one through the Philippines and Okinawa in WWII. Swore by that old M2. It was one of the souvenirs he brought home.

Curiously Ruger, as far as I know, is the only MFG. to build a pistol chambered for 30 carbine. I think its just too hot a round to make a pistol ,of an acceptable size, out of.

There was also the AMT AutoMag III and Thompson Center made a 14" contender barrel for it. My uncle had a contender in 30 carbine that he hand loaded rounds for prairie dogs. His T/C had very loud report!

I don't believe either one would make an acceptable replacement for the M9 for the Army.

Newest acquisition. Garage sale find from last weekend. Older lady had 2 Nylon 66s. This one and a Mohawk. My brother-in-law bought the Mohawk.

A 9mm +P has the same energy as a .45 ACP.

JG Sales has a smoking deal on some Federal 5.56.

420-round ammo can
62 grain XM855
$124.95 per can

The only catch is that you have to buy 4 cans to get that price. But you will not find a better price anywhere. Most places have it for $180 or more.

I just bought 4 cans, and even with shipping, its under 32 cents per round.
