Marvel Surprise: Robert Redford In Talks To Star In ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a fun Marvel scoop. I’m hearing that Robert Redford is in discussions to join the cast of Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger, the sequel that brings Chris Evans back as the shield-carrying superhero. Redford is in talks to play a senior leadership role in S.H.I.E.L.D., the superhero collective run by Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury character. Joe and Anthony Russo are directing the film from a script by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, whose Marvel script credits include Captain America: The First Avenger and the upcoming Thor: The Dark World. The sequel will be released by Disney April 4, 2014.

In between running his Sundance empire, Redford most recently starred in All Is Lost, the J.C. Chandor-scripted and directed survival tale. While Marvel was predictably mum as Kevin Feige’s unit always is on casting matters, Marvel characters have a tendency to show up in other superhero movies, and I believe that is likely to be on the menu for Redford. One of them isn't a spoiler but I really wanted to point it out. As I sat waiting for the end of movie teaser, I really was drawn in to the main credits graphics. They were really well done. Considering how much I enjoyed the movie, the fact that the credits stuck with me was pretty impressive (IMO).

I got out to see this Saturday morning with the gf. We both enjoyed the hell out of it after finding the first Captain America to be our least favorite of the first wave of Marvel movies.

Would recommend this to about anyone and will probably watch it a few more times. I'm really enjoying the Marvel movie universe. I just hope they can keep it going with all these actors because it's really awesome but of course it'll change the minute one of the leads decides they don't wanna do it anymore.

Im not a huge comic book geek, so i didnt catch all the cool things they threw into this. Pretty cool how they set this stuff up in case they want to bring in some of these characters again later.

I like that actor who played Brock, Frank Grillo. He was really good in Warrior and The Grey.
