It's possible even if you're not flagged. I've been griefed twice already on my PvE server. Once on Tatooine and once on Nar Shaddaa during the bonus series. Basically what happened the first time is that a marauder followed me (literally) all over the dune sea. I just ignored him. As soon as I started combat, he flagged himself, and bowadaar hit an AoE scream. So now I'm flagged, fighting an entire group of mobs plus this asshole marauder/companion plus his assassin friend who must have been waiting where I ended up going, because there she came out of stealth. So it's about 8 on 2 at that point. I don't last long. He starts dancing and spitting and all that immature stuff that pvp people get off on over my corpse. I of course go afk (still dead). Come back 5 minutes later, he's gone, after apparently spending a couple of minutes taunting me, and a few seconds later my flag's gone.

The second time I'm doing bonus series quests in the Nar Shaddaa prison area. And this operative starts healing the two strong mobs I'm fighting. It's about 2 am and I'm slow enough at that point that I don't even realize until I die, wondering wtf is going on. So he hasn't hit me at least. I respawn, finish my quest, start to port out, and there he pops out of stealth shivving me (I apparently shot him while tab-targetting during my fight, I didn't even notice I was flagged - that's how late it was and tired I was). Well, I immediately drop cover, hit him with an ambush and a quick shot, his health is half gone and he's running away. I port out, finish my quests, wait for my flag to drop.

And I call it griefing because to me it is. I'm not flagged for PvP, I'm playing on a PvE server, and I just want to be left the **** alone most of the time.

Fortunately it's only happened twice, and I'm around Imperials a lot now that I'm close to 50. They apparently seem to want to be left alone about as much as I do. Although I'm wary to the point of paranoid when I see any around while I'm in combat situations, especially if they're flagged.

Hehehe. I got ganked by a 50 Sorc in the Tatooine FFA area while trying to explore it. No idea how long that doucher was sitting there waiting for a lowbie to fly by. If it was a level 30, I wouldn't have minded it, but what kind of douche goes to camp on a lowbie planet and ganks players 20 levels lower to feel like a boss?

He might not have even known what level you were when he attacked. Saw a flagged player and went to town. At least you were in a PvP area. Hard to get too upset over that one, although it is kind of silly on his part.

The funny thing is that the guys flagged on my server are almost always in pairs and packs, I rarely see anybody who's solo flagged. Talking about out in the world. For both factions. It's like they hunt in packs or something.

A level 50 going to a level 26, or whatever it is, planet... yeah... I'm sure he was looking to fight level 50's there.

That's what I usually do. Perhaps that's why I never have much luck.

He was probably doing the same thing you were, riding through the area. I did it a few times myself to loot chests or gather the high level gathering nodes. I seriously doubt he was looking to fight (meaning I doubt he went there waiting for level 25s to pounce on...), because that area's generally empty on all servers, as I understand it, and they expect it to see more use (as intended) once the servers mature and there's enough 50s for some free-for-all.

Finally critted on everything but my freaking armor mod. I have to be up to 20 attempts on that now. I'm so short on mats, if I ever do get the prototype recipe, I won't be able to make it.

New lightsaber's going to be pretty nice though. Eventually my armor will match.

I have yet to really explore the pvp flag setting in the interface, but in the past, at least with Rift, you could check a box that would NOT flag you for PvP by any action you committed, even an AoE type affect (it essentially does not affect the other person). But if I were to uncheck that, any ability I use that could hit another person, automatically flags me for PvP...

Hmm. If not, maybe feature request from Bioware. Makes sense really. Prevents people from accidentally getting flagged for PvP.

Got really bored with my character's story, and it just isn't different enough from WoW. I think I just need a break from MMOs entirely. I'm sure I'll be back soon, though.
