Interesting you say that in defense of him. Oh well if that is what you think so be it. As usual you are incorrect, but being wrong is what you are renowned for.

It was, but it's irrelevant to the question of whether KU deserved their BCS bid or whether MU was "clearly superior". One team was going to get screwed by rule.

KU was less deserving. It was proven in the rankings and on the field. So KU would not have been screwed at all, because a superior team would have gone instead. It is really that simple. KU fans can ****ing whine all they ****ing want...deep down they know Lew cheated and bribed KU's way into that game...he knew that it would be KU's only chance to ever do anything in football.

That sucks for MU then. Hopefully they can get it done this season.

Of course, even the beakers around here at the time said things like, your school should have lobbied harder, the bowl committee can pick whomever they want, its a business, etc. Nobody argued that they were better on the field because that had been settled. And they are right about one thing, Alden got outmaneuvered by Perkins and his checkbook. Certainly that is true, but let's not pretend it was about football.

I am not sure how much it matters, though. The short period under which that system existed and when something like that was possible is ending. The season we have had this year, if we win the sec east, will mean in recruiting more than that ever would have. Recruits next season wont even remember what we did in 2007, they were 9 or 10 years old then. But they will remember what we did this year and where the program is today.

Like the rest of this former rivalry it's all in the past, and these two programs are headed in opposite directions now.

I am glad that the two programs are going their separate ways. It was a cool rivalry but it tore the city apart.

I find myself rooting for MU in the SEC because screw the SEC. I would be pleased as punch to see MU beat Kentucky in basketball for instance.

I can't believe that is true, but there it is.

Interesting: 6 of the 7 teams in the SEC West are bowl-eligible, and 10 teams in the conference will be going bowling overall.

It's not that I don't want to believe you. Anyone named "Tribal Elder" on an internet board with unsupported accusations is a guy I want to believe. I was just wondering if you'd come across anything other than wild speculation?

I have nothing solid only pure speculation

Also, It was apparent once Kansas made it to a game where the prize was a bowl of food items and mangino was involved the other team stood no chance whatsoever

Well here's an alternative theory, which is controversial in that there are 2 facts here. One, Mizzou brought only 8k fans to San Antonio for the Big 12 title game. This could have concerned bowl officials who care about ticket sales. Two, all but one of the prior 22 conf game losers got shut out of BCS games. So it was the standard occurrence.
