When reports emerged that Vikings running back Adrian Peterson missed practice and traveled to South Dakota due to a “medical issue involving [a] young family member that likely will be a police matter,” several tipsters linked the news to reports from Sioux Falls of a man named Robert Joseph Patterson charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery of an infant, who is in critical condition.

TMZ reports that the link indeed exists, and that Peterson’s two-year-old son is in critical condition after being severely beaten, allegedly by Patterson.

Per the report, Peterson’s son suffered severe head injuries.

We continue to wish Adrian Peterson and his family the best as they deal with, if the report is accurate, an unimaginable situation.

I hope this guy gets what he deserves. I can't, in my wildest dreams, come up with a scenario in which justice would be served here...but I still hope it happens. They're going to need an army of men to restrain AP.

I wonder what the law says about a case like this. Obviously it's no premeditated so the death penalty will likely be out. Is it 2nd degree or manslaughter? And can he plead temporary insanity.

Cant imagine the rage I would feel if the bf of mother of my 2 YEAR OLD child beat him to death. I would want to curb stop that guy to death.

Dude will be punished to the fullest extent of the law. We're talking about a child that had no protection or ability to defend himself. Charges go out the window in cases like this...these are the cases where judges decide the defendant's fait. His will not be good.

I don't think it would be involuntary either. The law can be tricky. I hope she gets the max murder charge.

He's definitely screwed but the law still has to be applied. I wonder if the prosecutor would be able to get a 2nd degree charge on him. Either way he will need his own cell in prison because we all know what those monsters do to child killers.
