R.I.P. Lance LeGault

The younger crowd probably won't know who this is. Fans of The A-Team and Magnum, P.I. will recognize him. Dude had a super deep and gruff voice. He was also the actor who appeared in the Star Trek: The Next Generation second season episode "The Emissary" as Captain K'Temoc.

Celebrating the Life of Lance LeGault

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Funeral arrangements were pending today for Lance LeGault, a veteran character actor whose 50-year Hollywood career included work as a stunt double for Elvis Presley and appearances in television programs such as “Magnum P.I.” where he played Colonel "Buck" Greene

and “The A-Team” where he played Colonel Roderick Decker

and movies such as “Stripes” (military officer, Col. Glass) and “Coma.”

LeGault died Monday at his home in Los Angeles, according to his daughter, Mary. He was 75, according to his official website, www.lancelegault.com.

The actor was a Chicago native who grew up in Chillicothe, Ill.

LeGault had a recurring role in 1980 and 1981 on the series “Dynasty,” according to IMDB.

His early credits include stunt double for Presley in “Viva Las Vegas,” “Kissin’ Cousins” and “Roustabout,” his daughter said.

LeGault also did voice work in cartoons and in commercials, pitching products for such brands as Burger King, Dodge and 7-Up, Mary LeGault said.

On the Knight Rider season 1 DVD pilot commentary, creator Glen Larson mentioned that Lance LeGault had "a voice that was four octaves lower than God's." This trait helped him obtain roles (often) as a villain or other "tough guy". It also resulted in a side career doing voice-over work. LeGault's trademark voice was at one point featured on self-guided tour cassettes at Elvis Presley's Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee.

In the video game world he was heard as the voice of Major Manson in the 1998 video game Battlezone II: Combat Commander.

He provided the voice of Junior the Buffalo in Disney's Home on the Range (2004). He also voiced Yank Justice in the nine-episode, 30-minute 1985 series Bigfoot and the Muscle Machines, part of Marvel Productions’ Super Sunday block.

LeGault is survived by his wife of 35 years, Teresa; daughters Mary and Teresa; and two sons, Marcus and Lance.
