Rules of the game:

Above is an example of my ranking of the remaining 9 Idol contestants. Please list your order of preference (NOT YOUR PREDICTION) as to who you would like to see as the American Idol. Assign the value of 9 to your top choice and values of 8 through 1 to others (in descending order. 1 goes to your lowest chouce). Those are the points you will add to your total every week that particular contestant survives. All point will be tallied continously. The winner(s) will get some sort of reward. Help me out with ideas here. Right now, I'm thinking some formula that rewards all players in reps with respect of their finish. We will hammer that out later. Above is my own order of choices with values assigned.

Keep in mind:

A- Be fair and honest.
B- Go with your preference and NOT PREDICTION.
C- Only entries BEFORE this Wednesday night's elimination show will be considered.
D- If there are not enough hits by tomorrow night I may restart this after tomorrow night's show with top value of 8.

1- This was a new game with not much thougt about if the point system was going to work. I had to see it in use for a few weeks to see if it was fair. I was uneasy about the point system discouraging some from early stages when they would lose someone from near the top of their list. Every week thereon they would lose more ground faster and faster. I felt the need, from the very beginning, for a bonus incentive to keep folks hopeful and excited. In fact I was thinking about 10 points for bonus.

This year's game was basically the betta version. It had bugs that became more evident as we went on. It needed to be debugged. Next year hopefully we will have a tighter point system from what we learned this year. And hopefully we will start from the top 12 stage.

2- One of the things that got adjusted as we went along was the fact that originally the winner was going to receive one positive rep. If we had stuck to the original format you would have received (as winner) one rep. Well you have received the same as the runnerup now.

3- If my changing/adjusting the format were to help me win, then you could legitimately cry foul. As it is I was so far out of it that it didn't make any difference to me. i did it for the integrity of the game itself.

Hopefully now you, Logical and others concerned can see the motives behind the format adjustments. Good luck next year if you choose to participate.

My only comment is your timing was horrible. You announced the bonus only after it was clear that no matter what jspchief had won, then you add a bonus to make the final week important. Not good form IMO.

I agree. But as I saw this first ever game as a work in progress, something had to give. And B/N I did not check to see if anyone had an insurmountable lead. I truly thought this way was the fairer of the two ways. This first game should be considered a test anyway.
