Wallace Gilberry?
Has 4 sacks in limited time (more than Jackson/Dorsey/Edwards/Smith COMBINED)?
Why isn't he seeing more of the field? He had 4.5 last season. I'm guessing since then ONLY Tamba Hali has more. The kid can flat play and should probably see more playing time... ...thoughts? |

Agreed. Then again seems like this team limits the play of some good talent. Ie. Charles.

I think we could throw it to him more (he averages just over 2 receptions per game), but I think he's carrying the ball enough.

I think he's getting out there a fair share. Especially on pass rushing downs. Maybe I'm just seeing it wrong. You can't really complain with what Dorsey and Smith have done though. It's not like he's sitting out while our starters stink it up.

I remember Gilberry getting worked on several run plays. I think he works best with limited snaps and in passing situations. Nothing wrong with having the right man for a specific job, though.

Just wanna see him helping out the weakest part of this defense (the pass rush) more often...

I agree. One of the things that I've really enjoyed about this season is that everyone (more or less) seems to have a role that they're very capable of performing well. It leads to maximizing those players' impact while keeping them rested and healthy. and I think it's a big part of why we've looked so much better than most people expected coming into the season.

As of right now, he's a specialist.

Gilberry's the same exact guy he's been since being signed off the Giants practice squad in 2008.
He's a very instinctive and quick pass rusher but he's a liability against the run. Until that changes, he's a situational player at best. |

he plays his role very well. if he was to start say at LDE he would eventually become a liability against the run. Not saying he can't, cause he has and has held up and done well playing 2gap at only 270 lbs more or less.
we need the o to score more early and get up 10 pts or so to see more nickel and sub packages w/ Wallace playing. Great chance to take on him signing him off the PS like studebaker that under Kuharich, Farmer was given more responsibility in '08 and kudos to Haley's staff in development and putting them in the right position in the 3-4 since then.

unless you want our run defense ranked some where in the 20s, then he not gonna be an everydown player. He is what he is, and thats a pass rushing specialist.
