I am curious as how to how Sandbox determines blocking efficiency (e.g. is there any difference between running out of 22 personnel with Jimmy Graham or prime Jason Dunn in relation to TE blocking effectiveness?)

I think DT and NT are treated equivalently as are MLB and ILB. In other words you can play these players without a penalty associated with the front you are in.

From experience in league 1, I'm not sure if it was because of the specific player, but the 4-3/3-4 distinction seemed pretty critical for the OLBs.

Melvin Ingram was absolutely terrible for me in a 4-3 set. I switched in Malcolm Smith because he was listed as a Sam and the guy just tore it up for the last 5 weeks of the season. Nothing I could find suggested that Smith should've been more effective at literally everything (more sacks, a couple of picks including a TD, in 1/3 the games), but he was.

I'd have to be pretty hard-up to play another 3-4 OLB at 4-3 OLB at this point, the experiment went pretty horribly.

I really don't think the distinction between a SAM and a 3-4 OLB should be that drastic. A 4-3 Will, definitely.

I'm pretty sure I was playing him at Sam because I had Burnett locking down the Will and I felt like Ingram's pass-rush abilities (while not reflected in sacks, he had a lot of hurries) would play better as a Sam.

He had zero 'tracked' stats. I don't know if he got any pressures because we don't list them. I don't know if he got many tackles - again, not tracked.

But in the final 4-5 games (I don't recall exactly when I inserted him), Smith had 2 sacks and 2 picks. One of his sacks was a safety. One of his picks was housed. He also forced a fumble in there.

He made another key play or two in the playoffs. The guy was an absolute killing machine.

Meanwhile every available metric suggested that Ingram should've been better. That's why I'm hopeful that CD and Rainman continue to develop the 'grading' system so we have a better idea of exactly what's going on in these games. It's why I'm going to keep pushing the idea of a simulation only going through halftime before we get to 're-set' and play the 2nd half; I want to be able to make an adjustment in the 2nd half to try to learn these things (and it doubles the game action).
