"What I have to get out of this team is go on an uphill road and get us to a point where this team has to go," Cunningham said. "We don't want a football team that's going to win 12 games or 13 (each year) and then fall back. We'd like to get up in the 11 (wins) and above and have the ability to keep climbing."

What he has is a team, HIS TEAM, that won 9 games last year and will "FALL BACK" this year. What a complete moron.<P>

this man's stupidity has already been proven to me.... over and over and over. i'm starting to wonder if this man has alzheimer's or if it really is just lack of sleep. i like gun as a person but he has no business being a head coach. he needs to be worrying about his health.

SS,
My sentiments exactly. This is really starting to concern me. Gun just doesn't make much sense at all. It's like EVERY time he opens up his mouth - something rediculous comes out. I hope that his physical health is not in the same shape as his mental health.

What Gun says in the paper means nothing. What the players do on the field is everything. The CHIEFS are lacking talent on O,D, and special teams. The coaches are the least of the teams problems.

"The coaches are the least of the team's problems." WHAT!?!!??? What team have YOU been watching all year long?

"It's 1st and goal from the 2 in Tennessee. I know! Let's RUN the ball 4 times in a row, even though everyone from the opposing DC to the waterboys know that's what we'll do!" That, my friend, is bad coaching.

"OK, we have a successful passing game, and now teams are dropping 7 men back into coverage, and because of this we're averaging 10 YARDS PER CARRY. I know!! Let's THROW THE BALL SOME MORE!!!" That, my friend, is bad coaching.

"Hey fellas! We're down by 2! I know we're supposed to go for 2 every time according to the book, but what the hey, the book is wrong, let's kick the extra point!" That, my friend, is bad coaching.

And the list goes on and on. Coaching is indeed a large part of this team's troubles. With the right coaches, I believe this team could at least make the second round of the playoffs, if not more.

I disagree with this. This touchdown came 1:04 into the 3rd quarter. Are you telling me that in this case you are not going to score anymore from this point on. I don't think that is what the team wants to hear/see from their coaching staff. If this was late in the 4th quarter, no doubt, go for 2, but not so early in the 3rd quarter.

I thought that book not only had score but situations to go for 2 instead of 1.

Hmmm... ok, I'll give you that one, even though I still don't agree with the call. It doesn't change the fact that there have been many bad decisions made by the coaching staff this year. The biggest one is being way too predictable on offense.

BK: The reason you go for 2 is because KC's offense hadnt sniffed the endzone the whole game.

KC had mounted 0 drives on offense. All of our points were the result of defensive turnovers 2 of which in the first half resulted in 6 points.

If you fail to convert, you still have to kick a FG to win, only you win by 1 pt instead of 2.

It has been a significant challenge understanding and translating Gunther speak.

The phrase 'Starting RB' means - The guy that's on the field for the first offensive snap of the game, but typically carries the ball the least.

The phrase 'Our Running game is getting back to where we want it' means - Donnell Bennett is healthy and will soon be running the ball for less that 1 yard per attempt.

The phrase 'Our running game is not where I want it to be right now' means - Donnell Bennett will be inactive this week.

The phrase 'Im going to put the best guys on the field to win the game' means - Donnell Bennett will play in critical situations where we need a first down to win the game.

I dont mean to bag on Donnell, it's just that it's uncanny the fact that KC does not exploit a player that's having a 'good' day. We've seen it around the league lately where no names have produced. Those teams stick with that player, let them continue to catch, run, pass, kick if they're getting results.

KC's staff, on the other hand, doesnt even recognize this and continues shuffling players in and out without any rhyme or reason.

The quote that got me was the one where he said he doesn't look left or right but straight ahead (from week to week). Huh? Maybe when you are competing for a division title or play off spot or are actually in the play offs, but for the love of Pete when you are falling like a brick and playing for draft position, you have to see what's on your team! Gunther, you ARE a total moron if you can't look toward next season a little by playing the likes of Cloud, Moreau, and Collins. I don't know if I can stand this baffoon for much longer. I will always be a Chiefs fan, but I don't know how excited I can get about our team if He is our "leader".

What team have YOU been watching all year long?

The team that can't run the ball, can't stop the run, throws costly ints, sub par special teams, too many D-line penalties & injuries, Etc.

Yes, Gun is that stupid. Look at who he picked for assistants, look at how he has handled the RB situation, look at the 2-point non-try (by the way, ANY time you are down by 2 points you go for the conversion. It's as simple as that. That way you are either tied or still down by a FG. While conversions have only been successful a little over 30% of the time league-wide, you still go for it. Why wouldn't you?), look at his decision to stay with Moon instead of giving Collins a shot, yadda yadda yadda.

This guy has made one bad move after another. Nothing that eminates from that hole under his nose surprises me anymore.

Someone find Guns e-mail address and forward him one of those chain letters that says he will get paid just to keep passing it along. After 20-30 hours of forwarding,, the moron will figure he is rich and go tell Peterson where he can stick this job. Problem solved

Best in the West, the coaches are the least of the problem? I'm afraid you don't know very much about the NFL! The talent level from team to team is very, very similar. There have always been and always will see superstars (Moss, Faulk, Warner, etc), but win-loss record ALWAYS comes down to Coaching!!!! How can a team beat the RAMS by 20, then lose to the 49er's by 20? COACHING! Schemes, preparation and game planning are of the utmost importance! Gunther Cunningham and his coaching staff need to go imediately!! All of them! The Chiefs need to hire a detail orientated, young, smart and energetic Head Coach who will bring in a great staff. No more retreads, no more "career assistants", no more Bozos!
