Chiefs Help me plan first Arrowhead visit

Ok, as the title suggests, I'm looking for some help. I'm 34 and I've been a lifelong Chiefs fan (dad was born in STL) but have yet to see them play at Arrowhead. I went to several games in San Diego, as that's my hometown. I've "been to" KC once when I was 17 and that was just passing through in a uhaul with my father on our way to Maryland. I know nothing of the city, where to stay, where to eat, what to do, etc.

I'm shooting for the 10/7 game against Jacksonville for two reasons.. 1- the 8th is my birthday and 2- when news broke that the Chargers were bailing on SD my brother became a Jags fan. To his defense, they weren't that good prior to swapping loyalties. It worked out perfectly that this would be the weekend they played each other. I think we're going to fly in on Thursday 10/4 and leave Sunday evening.

As far as getting around goes, I'm kinda disabled. Some piece of shit didn't nail in one side of a stud in an attic and I was fortunate enough to be the one that figured it out. I had hip surgery last October and I'm still fighting worker's comp for an L5-S1 fusion and to repair my herniated, torn, and cracked T3-4. I also ****ed up both knees in the fall, though that's just unexplained, and undiminished, swelling/fluid buildup. That said, we want to experience real BBQ (east coast sucks) and do some touristy shit around town. Thank you!

The good news is that you can eat barbecue on bad knees. It doesn't diminish your ability to have barbecue at all.

Thanks. My brother asked me and I was hoping it'd be warm still. Here in MD it's a crapshoot. We had no spring this year...again. 3" snow one week and 80s the next. Sometimes summer runs into early December, while other years it's cold as hell on Halloween.

Well if you don't like east coast bbq stay away from q39 they serve Carolina style bbq.

Go to LC's and marvel the BBQ while trying to avoid contact with anything else at the joint.

Partly other joints started doing it better and partly because Gates more or less started coasting on its reputation. When they're on point it's quite good, but that's a roll of the dice.

If you can swing it, figure out a way to tailgate in the stadium parking lot. Either buy a cheap little charcoal grill you can toss or ask around here. I'm sure someone will give you an invite to join theirs.
