Ok, this one might be worth two shits.
I refuse to acknowledge any rocky made after 4... 3 was hard to swallow but I'll allow for its existence.

Man, I love Rocky III! Apollo training Rocky? Clubber Lang? Awesome.

Rocky V was a shitstorm. It doesn't exist for me. But Rocky VI was a blast and I thought it was nice closure for the character, although unrealistic because there's no way that Rocky would be poor. He'd be an ESPN, Showtime, HBO or PPV announcer, he'd have endorsements, etc.

This film looks awesome, though. Very reminiscent of the original, which is still amazing, IMO, to this day.

Rocky wouldn't have been broke after IV. You're telling me that Apollo's wife wouldn't have hooked him up after avenging her husband's death? A guy that beat a Soviet murderer wouldn't be one of the most sought-after endorsers in America?

God, what a debacle that movie was.

You didnt love the emotional journey it took to get through Clubber Lang?

You havent watched that more times than you can count?

Man, its hard to know what to say, I'll pray for you.

As for this, probably a rental.

But the first 3 Rocky movies... man I've taken that trip more times than I can remember, there better be something pretty damn good on to beat any of those out of my time.

Yeah, it was goofy as well.

VI was really fun but it went way over the top in terms of Rocky losing everything and being worth zero dollars. I mean, in the real world, he would have made hundreds of thousands alone from the video game, not to mention the world of advertising, TV, etc.

He would have made a mint from promotional speaking. Who wouldn't hire Rocky Balboa for corporate events?

It was written and directed by the guy that wrote and directed "Fruitvale Station". Michael B. Jordan is on the verge of super stardom and is an unbelievably convincing actor.

I wouldn't hesitate for a second to see it in the theater but unfortunately, I'd have to go it alone, as my kids are way too young.

FS gets nothing but rave reviews, I didnt know he was the guy behind this... Stallone handing the reins over is a new thing iirc.

And I totally agree about Rocky being broke and back in the hood again, never liked it or believed it... just getting by with some little restaurant? c'mon, like you say he'd be loaded with appearance fee's alone.

I guess Stallone thought bringing the character back down to earth would connect better or something, but he was wrong... be realistic.

Really? I just didn't really care for III. Thought it was a little overly dramatic. Never a big Mr. T fan tho.

I like IV. Everyone loves a montage in the USSR though.

Dude we're just total opposites here... for me Drago was the much harder to believe scenario, that movie is where it all started to devolve into corny schtick IMO.

Its one of my least favorite, Stallone was starting to phone it in with that one IMO.

Clubber Lang though? that shit was real, Rocky was on top of the world, he'd become a somewhat sophisticated and worldly man but didnt really know that his manager had been protecting him from the baddest dude out there... he had to be torn down completely so Apollo could build him back up.

Damn, love that movie.

And he lost Mick!? oh man... poor Mick, wanna know my biggest problem with 3? in that whole ****ing arena while Micks having a heart attack, there wasnt ONE doctor or even emt to help, poor old guy just had to lay there with Adrian and die out.

WTF

Met Mr T in The Liberty Wal-Mart several years ago...He was in KC for a Wal-Mart Promotion gig. He had never been to Wal-Mart so they sent him to ours because it was a newer one.
Passed him and his wife in the store and I turned to my wife and said "I think that was Mr. T!"
My wife said that I was crazy and what the hell would Mr. T be doing in Wal-Mart in Liberty MO.... She had me convinced till I over heard some employees talking about him. One said "He asked me where the shampoo was!''
I envision him saying "Hey fool..Where's the shampoo?''
Anyway I tracked him down and met him.. Told him Rocky III was one of my favorite movies..introduced him to my 8 yr old daughter,, he couldn't have been nicer.. Good guy

Great story, yeah you wouldnt exactly expect to see that guy in some wal mart in a smallish midwestern town... it would freak me out

Finding him in that kinda setting I'd be wanting to hog up all of his time with questions about Rocky, the A Team and ten other things... and no lie, I really cant think of a single instance through the years where Laurence Tureaud was EVER in any kind of scandal, even during his heyday.

Dude is basically a Saint in my eyes, a true childhood hero.
