Branden Albert trade won’t happen unless he lowers his price

The much-discussed potential trade of Branden Albert from the Chiefs to the Dolphins doesn’t appear likely at the price Albert is currently seeking.

Although the Chiefs and Dolphins can probably agree on compensation — the Dolphins sending a second-round pick to Kansas City — the hangup is that Albert wants the kind of money that the Dolphins aren’t willing to spend. Specifically, according to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, Albert wants between $8 million and $9 million a year on a long-term deal.

In other words, Albert is looking for the same kind of contract that left tackle Jake Long got from the Rams — the very contract the Dolphins wouldn’t give Long, which is why he left Miami for St. Louis.

If the Dolphins weren’t willing to pay Long that kind of money, it’s hard to see why they’d be willing to give up a second-round draft pick for the privilege of paying Albert that kind of money. So the Dolphins may need to look elsewhere for a left tackle. And Albert may have to settle for playing this season for the Chiefs, making $9.8 million, and hitting free agency next year.

He played against the worst divisions in football in 2011 and average in 2012. Literally terrible divisions with horrible teams at the time.

Btw, those terrible teams Matt Cassel played in 2008 and 2012...are the same terrible teams Alex Smith has played literally his whole career. And he's NEVER had a year like Cassel had.

Agreed. Except Monroe is better than average. And also Caldwell got in Indy the same year Manning got drafted and during his time the highest they drafted a T was in the 2nd Round. And that same T is now on another team. And when he got to ATL it was the same year Matt Ryan got drafted and they also drafted a LT 21st overall. Caldwell will not draft a T in the top 20 of the first because he knows he doesn't need to. He's been spoiled with Matt Ryan and Peyton Manning and knows the value of impact offensive players and they aren't on the line. But now we need impact defensive players and that's where Bradley's expertise comes into play. We're good and I'm not worried.

Yall need to worry about your GM who was with his organization that drafted 6 T in 4 years and 2 T in two consecutive drafts in the first round.

And we could easily put Hali on the trading block if we pick up Jordan. Especially seeing as how he takes up the most cap room on the team.
