I figured I would start a thread for this and see what happens....there seemed to be quite a few viewers on the board for this show the past few weeks.....I like the direction the show is taking so far......episode 3 tonight at 7 central on ABC....

It has been mentioned a couple of times by different people that Smokey is a "security system." I don't recall anyone ever specifying that he's a security systemf or the Temple, though. Just a SS for the island. But you could be right, and I'm just not remembering that scene.

Part of the reason Widmore was removed from the island was because he had a family with someone off the island. It all depends on when Widmore started his family, and when Penny was born. And I don't know that info off the top of my head. How old is Penny? If she was born in 1977,she'd be 30 in the current timeline... which could be abour right... so...

But, yeah, you're right. It's very possible Penny hasn't been concieved in the alt timeline. Good call.

I don't recall seeing white smoke... I know when Locke saw what we are lead to believe is Smokey... he said "I've looked into the eye of this island, and what I saw was beautiful."

As the show progressed I thought that maybe there were 2 "smoke monsters." After the S5 finale I thought maybe Jacob and MIB were both Smokeys in their natural states... but now I'm not so sure... it's still a possibility and something to keep in mind as the show progresses. I'm excited to see what's going to happen!

I may be mistaken, but isnt the Smoke monster like black black in some scenes.. and like a medium to a light gray in other scenes??? so maybe there is two smoke monsters?!

another thing i didnt catch but is not really that important..

When Kate came out of the airplane bathroom she bumped into Jack. she lifted his pen (he couln't find it when he tried to save Charlie). She later used the pen or tried to use it to unlock the handcuffs.

Thinking of the pen - in the pilot episode, Rose (I believe) was dying and the guy talking to Locke on the airplane asked Jack "Should we do the pen thing?" Meaning, put a pen in her throat so she could get oxygen. Jack said "Oh yeah...the pen thing. Go find me a pen." He ran off and later came back with like 6 pens. Now, in this episode, he couldn't find a pen.


One other thing I thought was odd...after saving Charlie, Charlie responds "I was supposed to die."
