I don't ever ask for prayers but
I woke up at 3 am this morning because I live with my brother and his wife and 1 year old daughter. They had to take her to the ER because she was running a 103 fever and was having serious trouble breathing/coughing up a lung. I haven't heard yet what is going on, but they're doing chest x-rays. I think she'll be alright but I've been on here posting shit just to keep my mind off of it.

I wasn't crazy about him knocking his then girlfriend up, but since she was born I'm really glad.

My daughter was in the hospital with this 2 weeks ago.... it's going around.

You got it, bro. That's tough to handle for parents. When my son (now 15) was a baby, he became so ill that they kept him overnight at the hospital. That was a very trying time for us as young parents. Thank the good Lord that he came out of it just fine with proper medical care. I'm sure your niece will, as well.

I was in Cali a couple years ago on business and got a call from Lumpy regarding our boy being really sick. He was running a 104 and she was in full WTF mode. This was the same day that they announced that swine-flu had broken out in the area so needless to say, I was shitting myself.
She ran him in to the ER and all I could do was sit at the bar and wait for a phone call. Luckily it was just a regular virus going around.

Little kids always run high fevers for some reason, (and always at night).
Glad she's all right.

Kids run high fevers so it's not especially freak-out worthy. You did right by getting her medical help, but a fever that high is not out of the norm for a child. If it was an adult I'd be much more worried. (My wife is a pediatric nurse practitioner)

Also, antibiotics may not be the answer since the fever might not be the result of a bacterial infection.

High temps for long periods of time are dangerous business. I know this kid back in grade school who had a temp of 107 for four hours. It literally fried his brain into reerunation. Not trying be mean about that kid, fealt bad for him growing up.

Yea a toddler’s temp can spike like that, it’s not at all uncommon you just have to jump on it early.
Keep plenty of Child Tylenol and Pedialyte Freezer Pops on hand then next time her fever spikes give her the proper dose of Tylenol and feed her a Pedialyte pop and her temp should calm right back down. This is a handy technique when they’re teething too, just FYI.
