Official 2012-2013 NBA Thread

Looks like James Harden has been To the Rockets for Jeremey Lamb, Kevin Martin and future picks. Plus... this is a general NBA thread.

I suppose that's true. Won two playoffs and gave himself quite a few chances in the 90s/early 2000s to win some more.

The truly sad thing about the 2006 US Open is this:

Before the round Mickelson was falling apart on the range and Rick Smith kept overloading him with suggestions. Finally, he snapped back at him, "Could you just give me one thing to think about?" Smith couldn't do it (he should have told him to maintain the flex in his trail leg, but Rick Smith is a ****ing idiot).

Eventually, Phil got so desperate that he took balls out of his own bag and started hitting drivers on the fringe of the practice green, searching for a feeling right before he teed off.

In spite of all of that, he held it together for 17 holes, only to undo himself on the 18th.

In the Greek sense, there are fewer larger tragedies in sporting history.

He won the '94 US Open b/c of an incorrect ruling that gave him relief from a terrible lie when he shouldn't have received one. That and the Adam Scott implosion are the breaks I'm referring to (Lehman in the '97 US Open to a smaller degree), but Ernie usually brought it when he needed to, 2010 US Open nonwithstanding.

Too much choking for one video. Reminds me of how Montgomerie's performance in majors was awful considering how good a player he was in the 90s there.

Ah, I had forgotten about that 1994 ruling. I wasn't watching golf then.

This.

Feel sorry for Kobe...but this is the Bill Simmon's Ewing effect right here...

the Lakers CAN be better without Kobe

Yes they can be, but that's not the point here. It's just upsetting to see a great go down. Its like the song by Joe Nichols- The Impossible

Geoff Ogilvie's chip-in on 17 was one of the better breaks in recent major history.

The ones that hurt nearly as much are the 1999 US Open, the 2001 PGA (Toms was such a fluke winner b/c he holed a 5 wood that was headed over the back, short-sided, in deep rough and a certain bogey), the 2009 US Open @ Bethpage, and the 2011 Open, when a garbage player like Darren Clarke careered it.
If you think about it he's had some really shitty luck at the majors...

- Payne Stewart in 99 making a par on the 72nd hole that honestly he had no business making, esp. after the drive.
- Toms' miracle hole in one in 01 that to this day I still have no clue how it went in.
- Retief Goosen's putting display at Shinnecock in 04 during the final round that was nothing short of divine intervention.
- Ogilvy's chip in 06, crazy
- His tee shot at #4 last year at Augusta...granted it was a horrid push block but it hit the railing and bounced back under the bamboo. 9 times outta 10 that flies into the grandstand

I don't like the Lakers. I grew up in Seattle. I would hate it if Kobe went out like this. Absolutely hate it. Too much respect for what he's done.

I came in here to ask the OKC fans if they'd rather have the #1 seed and play the Lakers or the #2 seed and play Houston/Golden State. Because let's face it, the Lakers could have potentially been dangerous as an 8. But...I just looked at the sports news. So nevermind.

Bummer for Kobe.

I know people are saying he won't go out like this, but I think his career is pretty much over.

I don't know how you return from this kind of injury at that age with so much wear on your body already and still be a dominant player.

I hope he proves me wrong though.

Guess it will just depend on the severity of the injury and how well the surgery goes. I think he'll be back.
