Any ex Marines in here?

Sounds like this new flick called "Jarhead" is gonna piss off alot of Marines.

Its from Sam Mendes, the guy who directed American Beauty and Road to Perdition, so it should be good. Read the early reviews here:

Get one thing straight, there is no such thing as an EXMarine.

and I didn't mean for that to sound as harsh as it comes across.

seeing as the original story was written by a marine, you wouldn't think it would offend them too much...

any marines see the spoilers or trailers and have comments?

I was going to post just that when I saw this thread.

I have a feeling I'll eventually end ep seeing this since my brother is a Marine. My dad's going to want to see this.

I do kinda like that it appears to explore the different feelings of the "lifers" and the "it's a job/college tuition/escape from Podunk USA" Marines.

I was at a house party of an ex-marine years ago and he had his dress hat, cap, lid whatever on display. I picked up and put it on and he looked like he was going to try and rip my head off.

Freakin' jarheads!

I spent 5 years active in the early 90's. I'm not a freak about it like some guys, though. It was 5 years of my life. I enjoyed it. I learned some stuff. I made a lot of friends.

The same could be said of high school (sans the 5 years part) and I'm not fiercely proud of my high school.

I don't even have a USMC sticker on my car, tatoo, nor shadowbox with all my medals..... I'm probably the exception.

Sounds to me like a Gulf War version of Full Metal Jacket. Should be good considering the director and cast. The book was somewhat controversial.
