Hasn't pretty much everything Stephen King has written over the past 25 years occurred in Maine?

Watch out for driverless cars, and balloons coming out of sewer drains.

Went there when I was younger. I remembered they had amazing pizza there. All I remember was it had pineapple on it. Nonetheless, beautiful part of the country.

Well, I’m from NE. Been to Maine often enough and my brother lives there.
Maybe you'd like to visit the Bush compound at Kennebunkport. You could send patteeu a postcard. Tee-Hee! Don't just stay in the South, that's not where the best of Maine is. Although Portland is an old seaside city and cool to visit with wonderful shops in the old town. But go further up to the mid-Maine coast where the picturesque coastal villages are located. And that should be just for startes as you eventually wind you way to "the famous Acadia National Park See it's Mt Desert Island and the famous town of Bar Harbor. These are a can't miss if you go to Maine. Now if you have time, and you really want to do it right, you have got to head into the northern interior to see it's beautiful wilderness region. Completely different than coastal Maine. There's Moose Head Lake with it's majestic fir trees looming out of the water with plane rides overhead for the views. Awesome! Mt. Katahdin for hiking or just viewing and pictures. Or try some white-water river-rafting—some of the best in the country on the Kennebec and Penobscot Rivers. It's a blast and you'll never forget it. Rapid 5.5 white water, 14 foot waterfall drop and crib-work on the Penobscot that is so wild it requires a second guide to save people. You'll come up to moose in the calmer waters tredding in the water eating moss from the bottom. You'll see wild animal life. A cool story-telling material adventure. Some places you can pick mussels right off the rocks and steam in wine and herbs for dinner. Oh and the lobster is cheap! Enjoy your trip and Good luck. Hope I helped. |

Here's some photos of mid-coast region of Maine. It's called either "Maine's best kept secret" or the "Jewel of Maine." I put the captions in that were there. You can look at a whole gallery of photos here. I just liked these two best.
Camden is the quintessential New England seaside village. A windjammers sails past Curtis Light at the head of Camden Harbor. My brother sails a lot. |

Moosehead Lake's scenic sea plane rides are fun.
Water is not this bright a blue but it is a nice rich blue. Last edited by BucEyedPea; 03-22-2008 at 07:45 AM.. |

Lived there for 14 months in 87 and 88. Try Maine Maritime Museum in Bath if your into historic stuff. Try Old Port Portland for shopping and nightlife. Downeast Maine can be very rural off the coast and you can go for miles without seeing any humans.
