Dogs can sense a lot of things that people can't. That's doesn't really mean that they're seeing ghosts though. Dogs might be resistant of being in a basement because of a small radon leak or electromagnetic field put off by old heating or cooling systems or electrical systems. Stuff that humans would be unable to detect. Many dogs freak out when going to the vet. I don't see a paranormal link there though.

Dogs are also very adept at perceiving the emotions of their owner. If you're scared shitless thinking about ghosts, your dog is going to sense that fear.

But if a dog senses fear in you, they won't whimper, they'll become protective.

Sure Cesar.

I'm not trying to piss on anybody's story. I'm just saying that seeing a reaction from a dog, and claiming to know what the dog is feeling and why, isn't a very dependable process. Let alone attributing it to paranormal stuff that's completely unproven and could be nothing more than the overactive human imagination.
