Apparently it's the first postseason game to ever end on a pickoff.

You could make a case that the Red Sox should have won the 2 games they lost. We are not the 27 yankees. We will lose games we should have won.

This team has played four inexcusably awful games out of 16 in the postseason: Game 2 against Pitt, Game 3 against LA, and Games 1 & 4 of this series.
That's too high of a proportion when the teams are so evenly matched.

My family was at this game, but I wasn't able to go because of being at school and everything it would've cost to get to STL not to mention the tickets. I was a little disappointed I didn't get to go, but if I had been in the stadium for that I would've lost my ****ing shit. I'm glad I didn't have to witness that shitstorm in person.

get real, Wong didn't lose that game, leaving 8 stranded lost the game.
I am not putting the heat on a bit player who is seeing the bright lights for the first time when the first base coach is standing there picking his butt.

Right, because the Red Sox definitely did not lose the other two games by throwing the ball away down the third base line not once, but twice. When teams are this close, the mistakes get magnified exponentially.

Buchholz was throwing BP. That was the game. He should have been curb stomped with what he was throwing. Everything else would be irrelevant.

If the Cardinals lose this it will because they made more boneheaded plays than the Red Sox. It seemed dumb for the Red Sox to be holding Wong on until they picked him off. We have Waino and Yadi letting a pop fly drop between them, Holliday being thrown out on a dropped ball, then last night's bonehead adding to the many mental breakdowns for the Cardinals.
Is it just me or could nobody else see that Lynn was going to break down facing Ortiz? He was at his limit and mentally checked out of the game by then. Should have had Choate ready and pitching to him.

There was a lot of talk about Farrell leaving Napoli on his bench the previous game. Where is Miller this series (and last)? Why put him on the roster when you aren't going to use him? He hasn't even warmed up to my knowledge. It is puzzling. He worked out of the pen last year after starting all year. It is the reverse that can mess up a pitcher. |

The problem is that Matheny doesn't recognize that Maness operates off of 1) a decent sinker if he throws it properly and 2) dumb luck. When Maness elevates that sinker, it is batting practice, as we saw. |

Lineups posted for tonight's game: http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/20...inals-lineups/
Little bit of a shakeup on our end: Jay out, Robinson in CF and hitting 2nd, dropping Beltran to 4th. Adams, Kozma, and Freese starting tonight. Boston's rolling with pretty much the same lineup as last night. David Ross and Jonny Gomes in there again tonight. Should be a good one tonight...We gotta have this one. |
