Is real estate really this inexpensive around KC?

What's the catch?

It's the same in Tennessee. I live up in NY so it's hard to imagine a house costing less than a new car. WTH?

That is probably true, it looks like a run down house in a horrible neighborhood.

Yup... By the looks of the speed limit sign, that'll get you a nice 4 bedroom 3 bath home smack dab in the middle of 33rd & Prospect. (The worse area in the city).

yes, some property is that cheap in KC.

It's probably pretty damn run down and in a neighborhood you might not survive walking out to your car in the morning. Linwood and Benton is bad news. Crack heads, ho's, gangs... fun place.

From what I've seen of other posts on KC real-estate, it still seems inexpensive compared to other areas of the country. If that linked house is only around $25k, obviously a fixer-upper, then what is a nicer house in a good area going for? I think it's only around $175k or less maybe? That's pretty darn cheap these days.

I just wonder what the pay scales are like for professional and non-professional labor as well. Do they scale to the cost of housing or living in that area as well?

Benton is considered a growing/ prime area. (Nice) Houses are being sold there around the $100k mark.

Linwood & Benton there's a (big historical) church on one corner. No prostitues or anything. Now a couple of blocks west, I'd agree but not Linwood & Benton.

In my second (income) house, I got a guy to upgrade my 100 amp panel to a 200 amp electrical panel and hook it up for $270 total. He installed motion detector lights front & back ran the wire & some other small stuff for $50.

cheap & good) labor is hard to find.
Luckily I have had good luck in that department.

Those are all older homes and you can get a newer looking home for around the same amount of money.
Just won't have 5 br etc. But from the looks of that posting... It looks like it may have some bedrooms made into the basement so it's prolly not a real 5 br home.

It is at 31st and Prospect; right where that house you posted is located. Trust me, you don't want to live there. I lived at 31st and Charlotte (a few blocks west of there) for about a year and a half. I think I only had about $1000 in damage done to my car (broken windows, theft, etc.)

Okay, it's been a few years since I lived in KC now. I haven't been to that area of town in a long time, but the last time I was there a lot of shops were boarded up and it was a really bad neighborhood. Seems like there were regular shootings from around there all the time too.

I don't live in NYC, there's this whole entire state to the north.

I'm halfway b/t NYC and Albany, and you cant buy a trailer for under 100 k.
