Nivea facing Ashur was good because, since she's not noted in history- I really wasn't sure how it would end. Crixus doesn't die in this battle, so if he was fighting Ashur there would be no tension. Plus, it really fit as good way to end the internal conflict she's been facing. |

Just finished watching a marathon of Spartacus, and wow....standing ovation here. What a series (with more to come!)
Lucy Lawless' character was perfectly done and the ending had me on pins and needles not necessarily due to the Spartacus/Glaber duel, but rather the Lucretia/Illythia climax. The speech of bringing a child to Quintus right before plunging off the cliff backwards....amazing stuff. As stated previously though, the whole Ashur/Nivea duel was painful to watch. I was secretly hoping that Ashur would simply plunge a sword in Nivea or toss her off the cliff, if only to ensure that he didn't go out the sappy way he did. It would have made him a more memorable and hated villain, in my opinion. |

A season premiere without an orgy in the show is like salt being absent in the sea.

Watched this seasons first episode. The blood was great (lots of it), but the ghey shit right after the hetero sex was sick imo.

Lots of Romans had homosexual relationships. I don't know why you'd be surprised by the gay stuff, considering it's been in there since the first season.
The blood is way over the top this season. Distracting and annoying instead of good stylistic choice (not that it was ever really THAT great to begin with). Story was meh. Glad they're getting to Crassus. |

That being said, it is pretty damn hard to keep other things going in addition to total ****ing war. I think it is sound to focus singularly on the war aspect because it is such a major piece of the puzzle. It is just a dissent from previous seasons. I noticed the blood was a little overdone also, but I imagine it and the tits are selling a huge portion of the viewership, so I don't anticipate that going away. I'm going to get to the end strictly because the first season was good enough to watch it through. Sucks that Andy couldn't be around for it though. He was a better fit than the new guy. |

Oh. And I'm disappointed I haven't heard one "JUPITERS COCK" yet. That makes me every time.

Great final episode - fitting end to the series. I too liked that they gave a shout out to all the principal cast members from previous season in the end credits, including Andy.
I will miss this show. |
