Playstation 4 price and Xbox 720 is announced

I didn't own either a PS3 or Xbox 360 last gen, and ended up getting an Xbox One this week. In my mind, a PS4 doesn't do a damn thing that I couldn't do better on my computer, whereas the One is something that actually feels next-gen to me with its robust multimedia capabilities, voice controls and easier multitasking. I actually think the Kinect is cool, and I'm optimistic that developers will feel more freedom to get creative with its use as a result of it being included with every system. The sales show that I'm not alone in my opinions.

I think that anyone who believed that this gen would be lopsided one way or the other was listening too hard to the online journalists trying to create drama. Ultimately, the GAMING experience is going to be very similar between the systems, and each will have its share of interesting exclusives; I have a hard time believing that either system will "beat" the other.

Exclusive rights to videogame titles. PS4's are very strong right now.

I've always been a Playstation guy, had all 3 Uncharted's, loved God of War 3 and Infamous 1 and 2, Last of Us will always be one of my favorite games of all time, I just didn't see Gears of War and Halo as franchises that I truly enjoyed.

I think both platforms are banking hard on the fanbases they've built up over the years to carry them into the next generation. Sony won the end of last gen's war, Xbox hasn't had anything great come out on only it in quite some time.

Fable failed as the games went along, Halo 4 underwhelmed fans when it was passed on to 343, and Gears of War Judgement was touted as a good game but showed that the series was getting stale. Xbox just limped into this generation, but for being "behind" they've surely brought alot of impressive things to the table. Their acquisition of Titanfall will pay off dividends if it succeeds. The simple fact is that since you have so many third party titles coming out on both, exclusives are a precious commodity.

I just hope Xbox and PS don't rely too heavily on the same studios to carry them, they have to grow. People are already getting tired of CoD, Assassin's Creed is hanging in there rebounding from the third, Battlefield is giving their fans a reason to hate them which isn't good, EA can't make a game worth a shit anymore, fans are calling out for new experiences, not rehashed sequels and remakes.

I am not a huge Xbox fan. I had both consoles last gen and a ps2 only the gen before that. It's just the trolling of Sony fans is almost unbearable when you are trying to watch a youtube video or hear about anything Xbox related from ign etc..

Fair enough; since I didn't own either system, I can't provide the same perspective that you can (having owned both).

I like Xbox but I need a baseball game. As long as the servers aren't shit for MLB The Show I will get a ps4.

I don't feel like looking up lists all over again, but when I was researching the consoles it seemed like both had similarly solid lists of exclusive content. Am I wrong and the PS4 has a noticeably larger list of publishers on board, or was your comment more based off of your personal excitement for Sony's exclusive franchises (nttawwt)?

I may seem gimmicky, but like for example when driving in Forza on xbox one, you can enable kinect to do things like head tilt camera view- so when you're driving if you simply look left or right the view will shift in that direction just like normal field of vision. It's done very well and smoothly. Pretty cool when you're racing and you have tracks with some ridiculous series of curves in multiple succession in all directions.

Do you use a wheel for forza? I have seen people using high performance wheels, looks pretty sick.

I wonder what the numbers would look like if the roles were reversed. If Sony had introduced their console first, the backlash would have been on them. I think they would have been hurt more than xbone is now.

I haven't- I don't think that they have released a wheel for the One. Either way, Forza is a blast to play and I've only scratched the surface of the game (3% of my career complete) At this point I have like 4 or 5 cars in my garage when there are hundreds available and I guess they introduce more and more limited edition models via the online store. The tuning options are pretty robust.

I've played it way more than any other of the games in part because I only have limited availability of freetime to play each week. It's an good one to play when you just have 20-30 minutes free to fire up 3-4 circuit races.

I could have cared less about having the Kinect- the extra $100 didn't matter to me, but I think it's actually a pretty slick piece of hardware. Apple actually bought the company that developed and made the Kinect for Microsoft, and it's got a lot more technology packaged in there than I was aware.
I think these little features like I previously mentioned are cool and I think they will further push its use as the studios finally get familiar with these next gen consoles.
