http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansas...s/11233848.htm Royals offer tickets free to U.S. military By BOB DUTTON The Kansas City Star SURPRISE, Ariz. — The Royals are offering their own salute this season to members of the U.S. Armed Forces. The club announced plans Friday to institute a ticket program for the upcoming season that allows individuals in all military branches to receive up to four free tickets to all Sunday-through-Thursday home games. “The Royals want to recognize the unparalleled sacrifice that members of the military make to secure our freedom on a daily basis,” club president Dan Glass said. “This special program for the 2005 season will enable us to reach out to the military community and provide an opportunity for these deserving individuals to enjoy a day at the ballpark with their families.” The tickets are based on availability and cannot be obtained in advance. The program does not include the April 11 home opener against the Mariners or May 22 against the Cardinals. The program covers all active and retired military personnel, including the National Guard. There is no limit to the number of games an individual can attend under the program. Tickets will be available on game days at the guest ticket window, which is on the south side of Kauffman Stadium and opens 90 minutes before first pitch. A valid military photo ID is required. Tickets are limited to the individual and three family members. The seats are located in the outfield plaza section, once known as general admission. They are usually sold for $12. |
