Kansas City held hostage by Absentee Ownership

Just my opinion feel free to ignore, but that should be the theme of saveourchiefs.

This city has been held hostage by disconnected, out-of-town ownership and that's the narrative the national (and to some degree local) media have missed. Clark Hunt lives in Texas and David Glass lives in Arkansas. They can't feel your pain or passion. They're tone deaf to the issues undermining their teams. They're riding the NFL and MLB gravy trains. They turn a profit regardless of how much effort they put into their ballclubs.

Kansas City sports fans are tired of being held hostage by Absentee Ownership.

That is supposedly a Hunt Oil plane and the other one is the plane that J0hn verified in that thread.

And yet Clark forced Carl out and got rid of Herm when it was appropriate to do so...

And we heard reports yesterday that changes were coming...

So I'm taking a wait and see approach with Clark.

There is no way he can extend Pioli at this point.

Without question. Really, Glass needs to sell the team and go away. With Clark, on the other hand, I'm still on the fence. If he fires Pioli and gets a new GM then he gets a mulligan for now.

Fair enough.

both the Challenger and the Citation have a pretty solid foot print.

Both can coast to coast.

Steadman and Schaaf were in charge for 29 years. Carl Peterson for 20.

It would not surprise me if Pioli were to be extended, despite his record.

It's the Hunt Way.

Because they live in the community and are part of the community they are keenly aware of the pulse of the city and surrounding areas. They understood building a spectacular new venue for the sport was a risk but one they calculated would pay off because it would be a living embodiment of their dedication and commitment to the sport and, more importantly, the city.

One Arrowhead drive now stands as a reminder of past glory and success. For the owners it is a cash cow relic. For the fans it is a cash cow money pit. The fact that neither team is successful and both have out of town owners making money in spite of dismal teams seems to be more than coincidence. It's a strategy.
Didn't the KC Wizards win the championship about a decade or so ago? And wasn't Hunt the team owner then? Not that I don't agree with jwhit's assessment. Just sayin'.

If the Chiefs are locked into a lease with KC and Clark really cannot move the team, then the heat on him needs to go to eleven, starting yesterday. Keep raising public hell until the smoke is clearly visible all the way in Dallas.

Is Clark less absentee than Jason is insisting?

He goes to a lot of games. He was at the game in New Orleans. He goes to training camp every year. He was in Joplin for the Chiefs efforts with the rebuilding.

Clark may not live here but he definitely participates in what the team does. Part of the reason Todd Haley got fired last year was because the Hunts weren't happy with him.

In makes more sense to live in Dallas for business purposes outside of the Chiefs. I know we all think the Chiefs should be 100% of the focus all the time, but its not. Not even for the well known like Mark Cuban. Hell him being on a tv show cost them Deron Williams, a big time free agent. And for the money spent on the soccer teams, that is basically Matt Cassel's contract in the scheme of things. Clark has the right stragtey IMO to run the team. Hire the best men to run your franchise. The marketing wing has ramped up sinc Donovan was hired. Hell the tv and media productions coming out of Arrowhead is top notch. Trouble is on the football side he hired a crazy micro manger trying to hard to prove he was the brain behinds the Patriots when he wasn't.

Yes, they did when the league was fledgling and the team was still rather sparkly and new. You know, like the Chiefs. Hunt was Mr. One and Done when it came to this town.

Yea, im not sure Clark living outside KC is the problem. IM sure there are examples of other successful teams where the owners don’t live in the city where the team is located. The problem seems to be a “perceived” lack of passion to win.

Is there a complete list of all the NFL and MLB owners and their primary residence anywhere?
