Chiefs 2009 opponents determined.

http://www.kcchiefs.com/news/2008/12...ined_for_2009/

The Chiefs 2009 regular season opponents were officially determined on Monday, as well as opponents for all 32 teams in the NFL. The complete 2009 NFL schedule including dates and times will be determined at a later date. The Chiefs will be celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2009, a year that will also mark the 50th anniversary of the American Football League, founded by Lamar Hunt. The Chiefs will face four original AFL clubs in 2009.

Kansas City’s schedule for 2009 features six games against five teams that qualified for the 2008 playoffs. In addition to two games against AFC West Champion San Diego, the Chiefs will also face AFC North Champion Pittsburgh, NFC East winner N.Y. Giants, AFC Wild Card qualifier Baltimore and NFC Wild Card qualifier Philadelphia. Kansas City will also host Dallas at Arrowhead Stadium for the first time since ‘98.

Based on Kansas City’s fourth-place finish in the AFC West, the Chiefs will host Buffalo at Arrowhead for the second consecutive season in 2009. The Bills were the fourth-place finisher in the AFC East. The Chiefs will also travel to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars, based on their fourth-place finish in the AFC South. As always, the Chiefs will again have a home-and-home series with AFC West opponents Oakland, Denver and San Diego. Members of the AFC West will play all four teams in both the AFC North and NFC East in 2009.

In addition to the aforementioned games at Baltimore and at Jacksonville, the other AFC road trip for the Chiefs in 2009 will be a game at Cincinnati for the second consecutive season. In fact, 2009 will mark the fifth consecutive season that the Bengals and Chiefs have squared off. The Chiefs contest with the Redskins will mark Kansas City’s first regular season visit to Washington since 2001 and just the Chiefs third road game against the Redskins since ‘83. The Chiefs will also host Cleveland for the first time since 2003.

If Herm is allowed to see this thing through, we're probably looking at 11-5 next season. Without Herm, maybe 2-3 wins.

That's not a bad comeback, there is some truth there.

However, given that the by-line on that article is dated December 29, did you honestly think that with all the internet-addicted-chief-fan-loser-junkies on this board that this piece of information had somehow gone undetected for 9 days????

Actually, I think the the schedule was set after the outcome of the week 16 games, because the division finishes of the 4th place teams in the AFC East and AFC South were locked in. Someone posted it here on the Planet around December 20th. I was 1) pissed because I didn't post it first and 2) proud to be part of such a great bunch of football addicts that someone besides me figured this out way before it became part of the "official news stream".

I love this place.

They better beat Cleveland and some division games at home because the road schedule is brutal.
