Just found some interisting stats comparing the 2 QB's over the past 3 games.

.......att-comp % yds TD Int rating
Grbac 57-93 61.3 741 9 3 105.4
Gannon 48-87 55.2 648 4 3 80.3

Also Grbac has 12TD's, leading the AFC, and topped in the NFL by only Garcia (15) and Warner (14)
The Chiefs are now 11-3 in games which Grbac throws two or more TDs and just 13-11 when he does not.

Few more stats comparing the 2 for whole year.

......att/comp % long Td's TO's rating
Grbac 86/151 57% 73 12 5 95.3
Gannon 83/144 57% 48 5 6 82.8

Now not to leave Gannons ground game out..

rushed 31 times/157yds, with 4 td's (9 total td's)

Now as for any QB out there who might realisticly be available, I can think of none I would take at this point. Besides which Grbac is only 30 and does have several good years available.
(only one i can think of being available, maybe, is Trent Green. But I think with his large salary it might be cost prohibitive.)

On those lines, IF Grbac continues to perfom at this level or better, I think we take the big hit on our cap next year and or make every effort to keep him here

Any thoughts?

I have to admit I was against keeping Grbac over Gannon. I thought it was a mistake in '97 when Grbac started against the Donx in the playoffs.

Since then I have been wary, last year being the first year I thought Grbac played well enough to stay.

I am pleasantly surprised the way it seems to be turning out. Right now I wouldn't trade even up to get Gannon.

It's still too early to tell. In '98 and '99, when I was calling for Grbac's head on a platter, all Grbackers thought he just needed more time to develop.

He had an above average year last year, and he's off to a good start this year, thanks to San Diego's ability to allow opposing offenses to pad their stats. Grbac has had exactly 3 good games this year. Let's not award him the league MVP just yet.

I will remain skeptical until Elvis does it over the course of an entire season, without blowing any critical games.

I've always thought Grbac was a better QB; he's a better pocket passer and has a better arm. And lately, he's been making better decisions under pressure. Some of Gannon's passes left a little to be desired. Having said that, I'm still a Gannon fan. He's just got a certain intangible quality about him. I guess his mobility is what gives him the 'X' factor. But that has its drawbacks too; he doesn't always make the best play under duress. The last int in the 49er game is a good illustration of this.

Clint,
I think Last year was NOT a fluke, and he will continue to perform at this level. Also now that he has more than 1 weapon, I think he is showing what he is capable off.

I admit to being one of the vocal fans who thought Gannon was better and I was P!$$ed when they let him go.

I thought he was a better, less fragile QB and gave us(CHiefs) a better chance of winning.

I don't believe this now....I want to be a lifelong learner...just like I was told to say during interviews.

I believe if you look back at the numbers, Grbac has only had 1 questionable game, the Colts. In the Titan game, he played well enough to win the game, Stoyo missed a field that would have kept the game from going to OT.

I am excited to see the Chiefs have a QB and receiver that has to be actually planned against instead of just stopping the run.

It was obvious that Gannon does not trust his arm well enough to try to make the big play and would rather trust his legs to do it for him. I think he ends up missing big plays and does not make it through all of his progressions before he takes off running. This would explain why the WR's and TE's are so upset, the line is blocking well, and they are getting open, that only leaves one man to blame, Gannon. Watching the last game he reminded me of the guy you would not pick for your team in a backyard game, looked like a ball hog.

Of course I don't blame him for not trusting his arm, I don't trust it either. He missed many wide open receivers yesterday. His imediate feeling is always to throw to the RB and if not open then run. It was just the kind of Offense that we complained about running for years, the good ol dink and dunk.

I always preferred Gannon over Grbac. But I have to say that Grbac's performance of late has been exceptional. I hope he keeps it up!<BR>

Didn't Tim Brown finish the game with 140+ yards and two touchdowns? Rison had 80+ yards and Jett had about 30+.

Looks like he did a lot more than "just throw to the RB" to me.

Would really like to see the stats for Yards after the Catch. Most of the passes were short and Brown got most of his yardage after the catch.

Got the same impression, no long balls to the WR's. Simms made that comment many times during the game.

Gannon had almost as many rushes as their 'feature' back.
