The much-discussed potential trade of Branden Albert from the Chiefs to the Dolphins doesn’t appear likely at the price Albert is currently seeking.

Although the Chiefs and Dolphins can probably agree on compensation — the Dolphins sending a second-round pick to Kansas City — the hangup is that Albert wants the kind of money that the Dolphins aren’t willing to spend. Specifically, according to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, Albert wants between $8 million and $9 million a year on a long-term deal.

In other words, Albert is looking for the same kind of contract that left tackle Jake Long got from the Rams — the very contract the Dolphins wouldn’t give Long, which is why he left Miami for St. Louis.

If the Dolphins weren’t willing to pay Long that kind of money, it’s hard to see why they’d be willing to give up a second-round draft pick for the privilege of paying Albert that kind of money. So the Dolphins may need to look elsewhere for a left tackle. And Albert may have to settle for playing this season for the Chiefs, making $9.8 million, and hitting free agency next year.

Why would anyone think Alex isn't going to be our guy for the next five years? We're following the Chiefs Blueprint to Mediocre QB Play we've had for the last 30 years.

Do we really know anything about anything? What we know is that replacing Alber should have been about nmber 100 on the list of things to do.

Good point. We don't know anything about anything. Therefore, we don't know the inner workings of potential deals, why they fell thru and why Albert was a priority.

I am so sick of this complaint. Just because a guy plays a season at one position does not mean he "is" that position. Some people need to realize the draft is about the next 10 years, not the next 1. And its not the Chiefs fault they got #1 in the shittiest draft year ever.

Aaron Rodgers sat on the bench for THREE years, but you didnt hear GB whining about wasting a 1st round pick on a "career backup".

Im sure it was around 100 on the list, but the Chiefs got F'd and had to make the best of a bad situation. They couldnt trade down, the QBs sucked, they took the best player.

Albert seemed to be the brain Fart that killed the draft & the upcoming season , would really like to know what the hell the deal was with Albert , make up for the awesome Alex Cassel deal or what ?
