At what point do you realize you know too much worthless crap?

Family and I are sitting around, watching Animal Planet and they've got a show on B-movie monsters. Tonight, the Killer Shrews...

and I recognize the lead charcter/hero of the movie...

... it was easy, as he was wearing his sheriff's deputy uniform...

"Hey, baby, that's Roscoe P. Coltrane!"

"Who?"

"The sheriff from The Dukes of Hazard"

Wife just looks at me. That look that says if I replaced half the useless crap in my brain with stuff that actually matters, I'd be a gazzillionaire.

What was the epiphany for you?

I realized it when I was in College and could bring up conversations from 3-4 years ago as if they happened yesterday. Sadly having a kid has broken that ability for me.

Once a week at work, my boss (whom I've been friends with for over 20 years) will get into some protracted conversation about, well .... nothing usually. This will last anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes. At some point in that conversation, he will look at me and utter these words ...

"You are a bastion of worthless information."

It's been happening to me for years so to ask me when it started would be like looking for the proverbial needle in the hay stack.

The epiphany came for me when I read this post and thought;

Dude, his name is James Best.

Same here. The name popped into my head instantly. And I hated that fucking show.

I am a varitable fountain of useless information. I am vicious at trivia games, especially when it comes to movies or history. I always tell people "you want me on your team." Those who listen win.

For some reason, I have never been able to shake the knowledge that Jack Barron and Florence Bush were the wardrobe and hair people on the old Leave It to Beaver show. They were the last two names to roll on the credits, and for some reason they stuck into my brain.

But, c'mon, don't you want to read the bio for Tiger Fafarra?
