Yeah, he's going to move the team to a city full of Raiders fans. You people are geniuses.

Not me. If I'm a fan of a team and my owner's #1 goal isn't to win a championship then I would prefer he moves.

Get a guy in here who does have that goal. You'll get to that championship a heck of a lot faster.

My loyalty is tied to Kansas City. Not the Chiefs.

I'm not saying I want an owner who doesn't have the goal of winning a Super Bowl. I want that too. I'm just saying I want the team in KC, whether they strike out or not on that goal.

If you follow the NHL, you see (or did before the Cup run) the lower bowl half empty at Kings games often. You'd think, "Are these Dodger fans? Will they show up toward the end of the first period?" But... Nope

Sports in LA are not attendance driven anymore. There is enough money in corporate sponsorships to keep the Kings afloat and hockey is in most places a lot more dependent on the gate receipts.

I think just being in LA is enough money. Especially in a brand new stadium.

So......reasons why Clark WOULDN'T move this team to LA include:

1. 25-year lease agreement on Arrowhead Stadium w/ Jackson County
2. LA is full of Raiders fans
3. Pro football has never survived long term in LA
4. Most people in LA are fans of USC football, as well as competing w/ 2 other MAJOR pro sports franchises in the Lakers and Dodgers
5. LA could give a **** about pro football, which kinda refers back to #3
6. The costs to maintain a franchise there would be a lot more than here in KC, and Clark as we all know is not the kind to spend money when he doesn't have to.
7. This team is his father's legacy. Maybe that doesn't play in as a factor, but I doubt Lamar would ever want his team to move out of KC.
8. Stadium issues? You think Clark will want to shell out millions for a brand new stadium?

There are dozens of loopholes in the contract that allow either side to terminate it "with cause" including ambiguous language about stadium upkeep and who is paying for what.

The teams have already exploited that language to pay bills with funds that should be keeping the stadiums operational.

To think they wouldn't exploit that language to go ahead move the team whenever they feel like it is utterly naive.

The Hunt's have NEVER had a major emotional attachment to Kansas City. They don't live here. They just invest/own here. I don't think Clark would think twice about "his father's legacy" as it relates to relocating the team. jmo

Exactly. Buyout provision or not, there are enough lawyers and dollars in LA to extricate a team from a lease if the other factors align.

Hunt selling the team in my mind would dramatically INCREASE the chances the team moves. We don't want him to sell because he is at least committed to keeping the team here so far as we know, as long as he is making money. We just need him to pull his head out and get a new GM.

Good point, but primarily because they were 2nd fiddle to the NFL Cowboys.
