I do not like this. At all.

I realize that the battleship has been decommissioned, but considering its history, and as long as it is afloat in Pearl Harbor, there should be no other USS Missouri.

I actually agree with Frazod. Either leave it as commissioned, or do whatever it takes to retire the name. There aren't all THAT many legendary ship names. The Missouri is one, and I dont' see recycling it.

Even if the Constitution were to be decommissioned for whatever reason, I sure as hell hope they wouldn't just name the newest whatever ship by that name for chrissakes.

Exactly. I feel the same way about the Intrepid. Even though it's basically a floating museum, it's still the Intrepid and the name should not be reused. It's not like there's some shortage of ship names.

i was thinking, if you had to name three legendary ships, what would they be... constitution, enterprise, missouri. maybe they should retire those names.

but it's not like this is some sampan, a modern submarine is pretty cool too and a power in its own right.
