i made that up btw....feeling a little prolapsed myslef after just finding out i have to go to a meeting tonight at 630.
clint, as a comedian, i think miller is pretty clever...he makes me laugh pretty regularly and has some interesting takes on politics etc....but i just don't "get" him as a football analyst, sorry. jeff Foxworhty was funny, before he became popular...I prefer Rodney Carrington. no, i don't have a goatee...but i do have a gi joe with a kung fu grip. Clint,
I actually think Miller is really funny. I own his books, watch his show religiously on HBO, and can deal with him on MNF. I thought the hiring of him was great. He's still struggling in my opinion. However, I get sick of these show biz types who are never satisfied with anything. It's a frickin' hotel room. Not up to standards? I probably should've questioned the source before bashing Miller but the image in my mind of him huffing at hotel counters in the Plaza is in dircet conflict with his tv persona. You know, the cool, messed up hair, untucked shirt, tie loosened, unbuttoned collar, hypocrite. This sounds more like Kathy Lee Gifford than Dennis Miller. AZ |

Based on the "sources" listed in this thread I really don't know if this is true or not. If Miller says something about it during the broadcast then I'll believe it.

Sec, I agree. That's right up there with Bono's comment on our restaurants. Well ... DM is looking like the Bono of MNF.

I always thought that Bono comment was taken a little bit hard by KC. Granted, that's not a comment you'd make trying to endear yourself to a city but having lived in both SF and KC it was accurate. SF has some of the best restaurants in the world. KC, while it has some nice spots, isn't in the same league as SF. However, it's a given KC BBQ kills any you'll find on either side of the polluted bay.

IMO Miller is only in the booth to help improve the games that suck, not the games that are actually entertaining.
McDonald probably took one wisecrack by Miller out of context, blew it out of proportion, and reported it as fact. Or do the hotels in KC really suck? I know they sure do in Wichita. IMO this was inevitable. A controversial liberal comedian/announcer making a splash in the Bible Belt, and all of his "peers" in jouranlism that are jealous of Miller's sudden stardom as a "sports journalist" (using the term loosely) are simply green with envy. |

AZ, I lived in the SF bay area( San Jose ) for 34 years. IMO, SF restaurants are overrated.

Clint - Always the naysayer when one of your idols are involved.
A friend of mine is in charge of security for the Marriott Plaza. He reports the story as fact. Dennis stayed actually near Independence Avenue in between KC and Independence. He obviously was in need of rented companionship since that is what the seedy area is known for. He reported to the Marriot this morning (remarkably refreshed) and took a room for this evening only. He doesn't seem like an elitist to me, but rather a cheap bas*&rd who doesn't want to pay for a rental car to get a cheap hooker for the evening. I would also label him a perverted liar since he had to use the guise of not being able to stay in a hotel that is "up to snuff" merely to get a little action.... At least Pee Wee Herman was honest.... and funny. |

Russ - Always the naysayer when someone that beat out one of your idols for a job is involved.
Give me a break! Do you actually think that I believe you just so happened to "know someone" that witnessed all of this firsthand? C'mon, give the rest of us on this BB a little credit. We're not all idiots, even if some of us aren't Republicans. You'd make a great KC journalist...except that I don't think any applications from conservatives are being accepted. You know, that whole "Liberal Media" thing. |
