Why the Chiefs need Cowher...

No Super Bowl winning coach has ever won the Super Bowl again with a different team. We know this.

We also know the NFL is fixed.

There wouldn't be a bigger story line in the NFL next year than if the Chiefs, who haven't drafted a QB since Todd Blackledge, were to win the Super Bowl, making Cowher, who has been in the broadcast booth, the first coach to win it all with 2 different teams.

Make it happen, Roger!

That argument doesn't hold much water for me. I wouldn't have hired either Martyocre or Grampa Dick.

They are all equally as important as drafting the next QB. Yeah you need a QB to be successful in this league but coaching, GM's and good front offices go a long way as well.

Success isn't just the QB. It's EVERYTING. You need everything to win.

You guys know that. Im just trying to keep your thinking broad thats all.
The way the rules have changed, you need the QB. Trent Dilfer wouldn't win the SB with today's rules. Neither would Brad Johnson. Its stilted to the QB. You can't trust a QB to just keep you in the game.

Letting go of Todd Haley was a huge mistake. He should have been allowed to have reign of his coaching staff and the personnel.

Lmao Haley didn't fail because of the coaching staff (most were guys he preciously coached with). He failed because he was in over his head and lacks people skills.

I'm not really sure half of this board can bash Pioli. A good % would have Haley as the HC and Stanzi as the QB.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

if a game could be fixed, more than any other game i've ever seen, that was the game it was possible. one flag effected the outcome because it matched up two of the best offenses versus two of the worst defenses. one call on a third down changed the outcome of that game. It was just a bad call.

the nfl is not fixed. there's a higher probability that 9/11 was an inside job. there's too much competitiveness in these players to throw a game.

Haley doesn't lack people skills any more than Tom coughlin does. He was less popular because they were losing. And most losses can be blamed on a qb who absolutely sucked at executing the plays called in.

If it's Cowher, I would expect Omar Khan to be a strong candidate to be the GM.

Khan's been in the Steelers' front office for 11 years. Young guy, too. 35?

GM: Khan
HC: Cowher
OC: Whisenhunt
DC: Butler (if available) Maybe he can be a HC in waiting type guy. ?

I'm warming to the idea.

As much as I'd love to have Butler, I think he's already been promised the DC in Pitt once Dick leaves.

Haley didnt coach with any of the guys that were pushed onto him

he was around some of them on a Jets staff where he was some nobody assistant to nobody and had no influence or bearing on whatever anyone else was doing on that Jets team.

He never coordinated or assisted those guys from the Pats/95 Browns elite high bro clown squad club. Pioli, Weiss, Crennel, etc. All above him and pushed onto him

You are clueless. He worked with Mo Carthon, Clancy Pendergast, Muir.

You are right though Haley failed because Pioli picked Crennel and Weis. The same Crennel who made the Chiefs a top 15 defense the 2 years he worked with Haley and the same Weis who made the Chiefs a top 15 offense. How ****ing awful was it that Scott Pioli brought in 2 super bowl winning coordinators. They should have let the head coach who called a fake punt on 4th and 12 on his own 28 call the plays! Or the guy who called fora Fullback pass to his QB when they were moving the ball in opponents territory.

Yup. Total failure of a Head Coach. Sure, Pioli takes the brunt for hiring him, but what a boob of a coach.
