LJ for the 16th pick of the draft?

POSTED 8:54 a.m. EST; LAST UPDATED 10:17 a.m. EST, March 5, 2007

PACKERS CHASING BELL

As they scramble to attempt to fill the void left by the sudden departure of mainstay running back Ahman Green to the Texans, we're told that the Packers have contacted the Lions about a possible trade for running back Tatum Bell.

Bell was acquired by the Lions last week as part of the Dre' Bly deal. As we've reported, both Bell and former Broncos tackle George Foster are candidates to be traded again.

We're also told that the Packers contacted the Bears about the availability of running back Thomas Jones, but the Bears said that he is not available. It remains to be seen whether the Bears would be willing to trade him to a team other than their intra-division arch-rivals.

Detroit's willingness to shop Bell doesn't mean that the team is looking to shed tailbacks. We're told that running back T.J. Duckett currently is in the building, and that the Lions are expected to try to get him signed.

FREAKING STOP.

Not you, Laz, but EVERYBODY WANTING TO TRADE LJ.

The guy is a TOP 3 RUNNING BACK. We're lucky if whoever we acquire for him is a TOP 10 ANYTHING.

We can revamp this team without taking the hit of a 4-12 season, but we do it by keeping the young, talented players who are on our team to begin with.

is the rest of the team gonna be ready to make a run at the super bowl while Tony and Larry are still viable pro bowl level players?

winning a super bowl takes more than just good players ...... it takes the entire team being on the same page and peaking together.

i don't say the Chiefs SHOULD trade LJ or Gonzo ...... but at some point we really need to look at the big picture and try and get everyone growing together.

We arent rebuilding, so keep him. Run his ass into the ground. The Defense will keep us in many games. Hell, they kept us in the Indy Game. I really dont wanna trade LJ either. As much as people wanna trade this guy or that guy. We will NOT rebuiold no matter how much people here want too. CP wont go out with a 4-12 record. He's going to keep plugging holes to try to keep his stadium sold out. CP may not be the best gm as far as post season, but he's one of the best at selling his stadium out year after year.

If that team went 4-12 do you really think that stadium would sell out.....lets look at the 80's....or what happened when the Royals weren't good anymore.

We should rebuild but odds are alot of fans in this market would give up their tickets for the couple years we were bad.

Why would Carl Peterson rebuild a team when he's on his way out in a few years? Do you honestly think he wants to go out with the stadium at half empty? Carl is not a stupid man. What happens after he is retired he could care less about. He will not have a 4-12 team on his watch at the end of his career.

You put a 4-12 team out there and i bet you that stadium is not sold out.

after going 14 years without a playoff win .... maybe so.

the Chiefs fans are loyal enough to wait out a bad season ..... heck they already have waited out tons of mediocre seasons.

give them hope and they will come
