Planned downtime this week
According to Austin Chief, the long-awaited server move is almost here. As his de facto PR guy, I figured I'd give everyone the heads-up that the Planet will likely be COMPLETELY down for an extended period of time sometime this week. This is all preliminary and depends on how things go, but the current plan sounds like Patriots Planet will be migrated over late tonight (Monday) and ChiefsPlanet will go late tomorrow night (Tuesday).

While the moves are happening, the respective sites will be down for quite a while. To put a guess to it, I'd put the downtime estimate at about 4 hours on the low end and 24 hours on the high end (for each site). Hopefully it'll mostly be during the night, but you never know.

If you just can't do without, be sure to have Downtime CP bookmarked for updates.

That is the plan. In theory the new server has so much RAM that massive chunks of the DB can hang out in memory making searches easy a-ok.

Can you please post some stats for us pre/post upgrade?

For instance - time it takes to run a specific query (like a search, or loading a page worth of threads).

5 minute load averages (output of the top command)

Etc...
