I feel terribly for his family, friends, and fans. As for him, he's gone. It's what he wanted. Why should anyone feel badly for him? Watching his Mom was ****ing brutal.

"If we're so much the same like I always hear, why such different fortunes and fates? Some of us live in a cloud of fear, some live behind iron gates. Why such different fortunes and fates? It's somehow so badly arranged."

I do feel badly for him. I know what depression is. I know what it is to want to die. Not willing to die, want to die. I wish that he could have found something worth living for and I wish that he hadn't had to go through whatever it was that drove him to this. Rest In Peace.

It's not like I'm mad at him, I just figure he got what he wanted. Although watching his mom and dad on TV almost made me mad at him. But at the end of the day, I'm starting to learn this is a mental health issue more than a selfish issue. I'm still going to reserve my sympathy for the folks he left behind to suffer for him.

Here's my question though.... We have a person(s) who is so mentally tormented that they're not thinking logically. They can't be held accountable for basically sticking up their middle finger to their kids and saying "so long, good luck"....

Yet, they have the good judgment to shoot themselves in the chest so their brain can be studied. Here he is looking out for his boys, future NFL players but screw you, family. I don't give a rip what you guys get to go through.

This x1000.

Self destruction is a burden to the family members of anyone, even single people without kids. But if you create multiple human beings (like Junior), you should be expected to take better care of yourself and be held accountable and give a shit more than someone who doesn't, IMO.

Maybe he thought that doing this was the only worthwhile contribution he could make before killing himself.

Professionals (like myself) do not consider suicides to be selfish acts. And what part of saying "I will preserve my brain," is a sign of good judgment in your opinion? I would suggest it just further shows how backwards and flooded his thinking had become.

Suicide attempts are the result of months and more often years of complex mental torment that becomes unbearable. And the makeup of the brain plays a huge role in it. See this post http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showt...=259161&page=9

Myself from the link above- Head trauma damages brain neurons, neurons transmit messages throughtout the brain via chemicals known as neurotransmitters, serotonin is a neurotransmitter and a lack of serotonin is a common cause of depression as well as anxiety disorders. Decreased neurons means decreased transmissions of neurotransmitters such as serotonin throughout the brain which means increased risk of depression, especially in conjunction with other issues he apparently faced.

In short, all depression is not considered equal. And that is without even going into the different levels, severities, frequecies, and intesity of symptoms. But strictly speaking of this case it is probable, due to his football history, that he had even poorer physiological brain function than the average person with a depressive disorder.

I promise you that Junior did not say to himself, "I don't care about my loved ones, so I am going to do this for my own benefit."

Or was he setting up the lawsuit for his family to sue the NFL?

I'm a little confused about the study my brain thing. What's the end game? Ban football? Or give my family money?

I am speculating, bit I think he just wanted and end to his suffering and he thought that suicide was the only way to accomplish that. Whatever it was that he was going through (and again we don't know what that was) was bad enough that nonexistence made more sense to him. I tend to think that he made an irrational decision and that he wasn't sane when he did it. I don't know. I can't speak for him.

Yeah, I can understand being mad at him for the hurt that he brought upon his family. They are now suffering and this is hard to make sense of. I think we are all a bit shocked and some of us are a bit upset by this. It's natural, it's human. I think it also human to want to assign blame for suffering. For some there is a dichotomy between emotional and intellectual understanding. We have a need to make sense of shocking events and still validate how we feel about it. Either way, I don't think anyone can really tell you what is the right or wrong way to feel about this. All we can do is discuss it.
