I think with the reality of a new ballpark downtown it would mean higher ticket prices and people seem to bitch about that, but if you want a winner you have to pay for one. Corprate tickets would def. go up if the location was better. Arrowhead is where it should be b/c its setup for tailgating and an 8 game schedule. For 82 games, a Wrigley, St Louis setup is so much better.

If you told me they could be a replica of the K downtown by the Sprint Center and the new entertainment district and the only two differences would be wider concourses and more bathrooms I'd take it in a heartbeat.

Anyone else hear that the new entertainment district just approved open containers- you can move from bar to bar with booze!

See, I know alot of people that hate going to the city.. I know I will not go more if it is moved to downtown... That is why I am so glad about Zona Rosa and the establishments moving up here.. Tom Foolerie's, Gran Falloon, O'doyds(sp?), Hoolihans, Pete's Inn,one or two others being built and a slew of smaller shittier bars in the northland.. Only reason why I go to downtown area is the Point, and Westport beach club...

yeah, but Glass deals with a company committed to volume discount - you don't goto Walmart for premium items. you get "utility players. Same mindset. I don't think glass is against spending money should they have a salary cap with revenue sharing, and he's being smart in not throwing his money down the drain to overpay on a few players which will only raise expectation and lower the chances of the owners having any real balls to make baseball a sport & less an economic certainty in motion

Let's say, for the sake of argument, he spends money to keep his talented players and fields a winning team that makes the playoffs most of the time. Do you think he will LOSE money on the team?

Without raising ticket prices probably. They don't make enough off merchandising, tv & radio revenue, concession & parking to probably sustain a team in the 50-60 mil range. Factor in the decrease in the peanuts payroll tax they get now by bumping up their payroll and he probably does take a loss.

Ohh - and the downtown K would obviously need more suites and should have field level suites to maximize corp dollars. What it doesn't need is a bunch of fan's zones stuff that will take up valuable space in a new park, detract from the focus of the game and can easily be setup outside in the parking lots which = saving that stadium room for crowd entry/exit or seats without sacrificing the beautiful sitelines

Yeah, what you said.

The field at the K is nice. The concourse and surrounding areas are pretty much a dump when you get right down to it.

Yep.

Narrow concourses, lack of amenities, no place you'd like to hang out after the game except for the fuggen Adams Mark hotel bar. Move em downtown. Build a 32K seat stadium, and make it an intmate setting where the crowd is part of the game.

No Royals thread is complete without mentioning David Glass.
